Flat Tamir - Hope for Wildlife

Today we're going to share a very special place in Nova Scotia.  Hope for Wildlife.  We found it because this purrty lady was staying at our B&B and was volunteering there for 4 days.

You can read the story of how this wonderful place started HERE.  There was a TV series on Canadian TV about the sanctuary.

Hope for Wildlife's Mission statement:
"Connecting people to wildlife in a positive way - through knowledge and understanding - the Hope for Wildlife Society believes that education through rehabilitation is the key to a sustainable future.

The first place we stopped was the pen where the racoons were eating.  Watch the little guy at the very end..
.

See me in Mom's hand?  He SMACKED me and knocked me right down!!  Mom said I had to go to the car after that.....

In the Learning Center there are quite a few animals that have been helped by Hope for Wildlife.

Topaz is the official greeter...

Oliver the Owl was brought in with a broken left wing which had to be amputated.  He also ended up losing his left eye.  He was a cool dude..

We met Jezebel, a ferret that had been let loose by her owners...

These two sweet sugar gliders Marcel and Ophelia...

Clover was probably smuggled in by someone and then released into the wild.  It's pretty sad when you hear how many sweet anipals are illegally brought in and then released.

This little girl just had her leg amputated.  They think she might have been hit by a car.  Mom got to pet her...she was really scared and they wanted to get her used to people.

If you can,  take some time and visit their website.  There were lots of other anipals there being helped.  Some get released back into the wild, others stay at the sanctuary.

We hope you enjoyed our visit with Hope for Wildlife!
