9-11 We Will Never Forget

We will never forget...

By FAR the day that stands out to most of us in history is 9/11/01. Today, many years later, we will never forget... where we were that day... what we were doing when we heard...
Mom and Dad had just returned from a cruise to Alaska.  Dad's brother and a friend were here because they took care of us while Mom and Dad were away.  The TV was on and someone said a plane crashed into the World Trade Center.  Mom immediately called Auntie El who still lived in New Jersey to tell her. Together they all watched the second plane crash into the second tower.  For days after that, Mom says she just remembers silence and numbness. Everyone seemed to whisper, everyone was polite... it was strange. No airplanes in the sky. Constant reminders that life would never be the same again... Even though life eventually got back to normal, even though it was a new normal, America had been changed. We will never forget.

Where were you when you heard?

Our prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in the Towers, at the Pentagon and in the field in Pennsylvania.

We're pawticipating in The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies today.

Ellie snapped a selfie while she was praying for the families and for our country.

We will never forget that fateful day. The mom was driving to work when she heard on the news that a plane had hit one of the Trade Towers. At that point, it was thought to be a small plane...news was still coming in. When the mom got to work, many of her co-workers hadn't even heard the news yet. They turned on the TV and watch in horror as the news unfolded. They let everyone go home early...which led to gridlock on the roads. What a sad day.

Thank U for the tribute! Like Island Cats, I too was driving to work and my co-workers still did not know. Unbelievably similar story. We all went home early too. Love to all and hold your dear ones close!

Raz, Allie and Ellie,
I was not around then but my peeps tell me they had been in Budapest for a week and were in the Paris airport on 9/7 waiting for their flight home. They had been attending a work conf for mom. Normally they stayed a few days after the conference to tour. However in 2001, they did their sightseeing before the conf. Because they had to be home for a wedding on 9/8… It was a very trying time for sure. One of the ladies who worked at the conf w mom stayed afterwards to tour she was near Newfould when their plane was diverted to Toronto. After 3 days they found out they could take a bus to get into the US and then rent a car to drive back to Raleigh.
Dad does not like to attend weddings but he was sure glad he was to attend that one.

I was at work and happened to walk by the nurse's station. Several people were in there and were watching the television on the wall. I ventured in to see what was going on. So sad.

Nice selfie.......as for where we were - you know our story I'm sure; Mom and Dad were on vacation in France and I was in a kennel where I had to stay extra days because Mom and Dad couldn't get home - they were on the first plane back to Washington, DC though after they allowed planes to fly here. I was so happy they were safe and we were all together again. Such a horrible and sad day..........

Love, Sam

We also never forget. Granny turned on the tv at daytime, not knowing what was on and she saw what has happened. She was in shock, couldn't believe it and purrayed. She had a feeling that it was the end of the world...well, in a way it was. The poor innocent people and animals. It still breaks her heart :( Soft Pawkisses for the occasion <3 <3 <3

I was at home that morning with Pip. I had just brought him home the night before as a foster dog. When I heard the news, I knew he would stay with me forever - couldn't send such a scared little dog out into such a scary world.

I was at work and followed the entire morning's events with my co-workers. It doesn't seem like it was 15 years ago, it still feels so raw.

I was at work....it was horrific. I worked on the 28th floor of a building with 30 floors. I saw the second plane hit on TV with my co-workers. We ended up being evacuated. It was awful xoxo catchatwithcarenandcody

Thanks for remembering those who became angels on September 11. Pop and TW were watching it up close and personal and never got to see it on tv.

The three events in her lifetime Mom will never forget: the assassination of JFK, the Challenger exploding and 9/11. All such horrible tragedies. She watched the second and third events unfold in realtime on TV. She was happy to have the birthday party at Scouts today as a distraction as she was becoming increasingly sad and upset as the day went. We too offer our prayers to all who were affected in anyway by the events of 9/11. Thank you for hopping! Mau sends his lovely wife all his love and a bazillion kisses. I had just arrived at work, about 30 minutes north of NYC. My best friend from L.A. was visiting, and we had been at the WTC the day before. The thing is, we had been planning to be there on 9/11, but changed plans at the last minute.

We will never forget.

It was early afternoon here (I wasn't around, but she told me!) The Staff was on holiday and spending the day with her father! Suddenly her mother called and said what had happened and they couldn't believe it! They were numb and were glued to the news for a week!! We must never forget!

A terrible day for everyone. I also remember the quiet and the sense of the country holding its breath. Such a scary, scary time. I am glad we don't forget. It's hard to remember, for sure, but we just can't forget the bravery of all of those people that lost their lives that day.
