Poetic Thankful Thursday

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats

Today's photo prompt is and brought back memories for Mom. When she was younger, she and her Mom and Nana would go to Bingo every week at the local Church.  It was before the no-smoking in public places laws and she remembers it being really smoky.  Everybody would really concentrate and you would be SO SURE your number would be picked for the big Jackpot!!

Memories of Bingo!
The Bingo hall was packed and smokey
Get your cards and don't be pokey.
The pros get the extra card
Their special daubers they really guard.
They can play and chain smoke
They'll keep on going till their broke.
Is it I-20 or B-11?
If you win, it's like heaven!

Today is also Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

We're THANKFUL that the record-breaking HOTS have gone away (for now) and for the nice temps that let us do some window wiffin'

  7. OH yes, says Mom. She too went with her mother and the smoke was horrible. Dad said Mom reeked of smoke when she came home even though they always sat in the "nonsmoking" area.

    Nice poetry work!

  9. Happy Thankful Thursday. We loved the poem that you shared. Never a big bingo player when I was younger, but now play every summer for a charity. It's a really fun time. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day.

  10. Great poem! Mom Paula doesn't remember going to too many Bingo games when she was younger, but she remembers smoke everywhere when they'd go out.

  11. Great job with poem. We don't hear much about Bingo anymore. Guess they probably still play at senior centers and churches. Sawyer sends Noelle some purrs, and Mau sends Allie bazillions of smooches and all his love. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer p.s. Sharon, this Captcha thing is driving me insane. It makes me go through ten screens at least!

  12. I remember those thick clouds of smoke everywhere, not just Bingo Halls, but in cafes, cinemas, pubs, everywhere! Evenings out are so much better with no ciggie haze. Great poem too.
