In The Purrsuit of Flavors

It's time for In Purrsuit of Flavours sponsored by our pals at Easy Rider and kitties from Canadian Cats.

This month's theme is Stew:

…our motto is: STEW SEASON… like Rod STEWart, WaSTEWwater, HaSTEW la vista baby…. so grab the lemons, given by life and make a tasty beef stew… or whatever stew you want…

when: WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 6th.

 Easy Five Hour Stew

2 lb lean stew meat, small cubes

2 onions, cut up

1 cup celery

4 potatoes, cubed

6 carrots, sliced

1 slice white bread, cubed

2 cans tomato sauce (8 0z)

1 cup water

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/8 teaspoon pepper

Combine all ingredients in casserole.  Cover and bake at 250 degrees for 5 hours.

Mom is Low Carb and substitutes zucchini for the bread and mushrooms for the potatoes and it is DEE-LISH!  To make it even easier, she uses those cut up or little carrots in the bag.

Allie always liked to help cook!

  2. We are low carb/paleo/keto here, too...That is a good idea to exchange the bread out for those carb bombs.

  12. OOPS - Mom goofed. That was US trying to say:

Mom doesn't like potatoes in her stew either, but your recipe sounds very delicious. Adding zucchini and mushrooms would be perfect.

  14. Mom loved seeing Allie today. She’s curious about that piece of bread in the stew. She’s never heated of that before! She assumes it would turn to mush. Anyhoo…Sawyer send Noelle whisker kisses and love. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet
