Periwinkle paced back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel. She hoped her boyfriend, Stinky, wouldn't be disappointed in what she had planned for their Adventure today. She knew any time they spent together was special but really liked to plan fun things to do.
Suddenly, she saw the Tunnel start to vibrate and with a WOOOSH, out popped Stinky. They spent time whisker kissing and paw patting. Stinky asked how Periwinkle's family was doing since her fursib Raz went to the Bridge. Periwinkle said they were still very sad. Stinky gave her an extra hug.
Soon, Stinky asked what the Adventure was for the day. Periwinkle, apologetically, said they were staying at her house but that she hoped he liked what she planned.
"First, we need to celebrate International Box Day even though it was yesterday' she said. Always happy to find a good box, Stinky agreed. Periwinkle had an array of boxes for them to enjoy. She chose a Chewy box...
It’s when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, resulting in the longest period of sunlight hours in the Northern Hemisphere and the least amount of sunlight in the Southern Hemisphere.
It begins on June 21 at 10:58 am ET, and Orlando is expected to see 14.9 hours of sunlight on this day.
When the North Pole is closest to the sun, it’s called the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. In contrast, when the North Pole points farthest from the sun, it’s called the winter solstice, which is the first day of winter, astronomically."
As always, Stinky was impurressed with Periwinkle's knowledge.Periwinkle told Stinky that there were lots of sites that explained more and showed how to celebrate.

Learning things can be a great adventure

Summer solstice!! Yup its hot as any summer day around here, 88F, today, and getting into the 90's before the weekend. We might get some rain then... but we will rejoice for any rain with he drought we have happening in our area.
That i=was a fun and informative adventure you two!
We didn't know it was Box Day but for many/most kitties EVERY DAY is box day! What a wonderful day learning about Solstice - I learned a lot too. So happy you all had a nice day for the beach and a picnic....another wonderful adventure together.

That was a very interesting video. Mom wishes we could see more stars. We are having rain all week, so we don't think we will notice that we are having our longest day. Stinky says thanks for the great lesson, fun with boxes and beach time. Sawyer sends Noelle lots and lots of paw hugs and love. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, angel Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh.
ReplyDeleteDear Periwinkle and Stinky, this could not have been a better day fur you. Even if you did not continue on to teleporting to a foreign land. Boxes galore! And picnic of I bet, tuna and sail fish at the beach. I am sure you will continue to travel and share your visits. Precious

Oh my goodness- look at all those boxes! What were they thinking? Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI just noticed! Stinky is wearing sneakers! Periwinkle is barefooted though. Me, Katie, enjoyed the Summer Solstice information. I think Periwinkle should have flip flops.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun date. Happy Summer! XO
ReplyDeleteBoxing and beach fun is always the best!
ReplyDeleteHow nice your adventure day hit right in the middle between Box Day and Solstice so you could do two things!
