The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle sat in a sun puddle and groomed her furs while she waited for the arrival of Stinky. She was glad it warmed up a bit, and she couldn't wait to see Stinky. At the appointed time, the Teleportation Tunnel began to shake, and with a WOOSH, Stinky flew out, did a backflip, and landed in her waiting paws. "That was quite an entrance," said Periwinkle. The two giggled, hugged, and whisker-kissed. They always enjoyed their time together, no matter what they were doing. After a while, Stinky asked what they were doing. "I always love snuggling with you, but I am wondering what you planned today. By the way, I love our Spring logo.  I'll bet your Mom did that with AI" Periwinkle said her Mom used Nano Banana for the logo.  She told him there were two events that they were going to celebrate. The first was the previous day, which was National Puppy and Cuddly Kitten Day. She shared the cool badge from the Cat Blogosphere, which they both admired.

She continued, "I thought it would be fun to see what we would have looked like as kittens, so I had AI make kitten versions of us. Aren't we cute?"

Stinky did his own research and said, " Here's some ways to cuddle your kitten.

1. Let's start with the obvious! Enjoy Cuddly Kitten Day by actually cuddling your fur babies. If you don't have a kitten of your own, ask to borrow a friend's or family member’s fur baby for a little therapeutic hug.

2. Share cuddles with shelter kittens

3. Don't forget about the kittens who have no one to cuddle them. Volunteer at animal shelters near you. Sometimes they need people to interact with and cuddle the kittens to prepare them for being adopted.

4. Share your cuddle buddy."

Periwinkle added, "If cuddles are having such a positive effect on you, why not share this feeling with others? If someone you know is feeling low, offer them your kitten to cuddle for a while, and watch them light up.  I know I always feel better when I cuddle with you!"  Stinky smiled and said he felt the same way.

"So what's the other part?" asked Stinky.  Periwinkle told him that a very impawtent event was later in the week. Respect Your Cat Day.  They both agreed that every day should be Respect Your Cat Day but a special day is good too.  Once again, they admired the Cat Blogosphere badge for the event.

Let's talk about how our humans can show extra respect.

πŸ’• 1. Schedule Dedicated Kitty TimeπŸ—“️

Humans must schedule us. Yes, actually put it in their calendar. Apparently, they forget that we are the center of the universe.
This means:
Snuggles
Head boops
Full attention (no phones!!)

🧸✨ 2. Surprise Us with New Toys

Stinky added, "Nothing says 'I respect you' like a fresh toy. A new catnip mouse… a fabulous scratching post… perhaps something sparkly and dramatic. A ribbon wand or any wand toy would be fun to play with together, right? Periwinkle agreed and said," That's VERY acceptable."

πŸŽπŸ’‘ 3. Learn What Makes Us EXTRA Happy

Periwinkle added, "Humans think they know us. But do they? Do they know our secret joy spots? Our favorite games? Our mysterious little quirks?  Here are some examples:
Peekaboo behind the curtains
Surprise zoomies
Secret petting zones."
Stinky giggled and said, "I like chasing absolutely nothing at 3am." Periwinkle laughed and said, "Yes. That is your personality."

πŸŒ·πŸ‘‘ Periwinkle and Stinky's Final Thoughts

Respecting your cat means:
πŸ’– Paying attention
πŸ’– Learning what we love
πŸ’– Treating us like royalty

Stinky added, "…AND SNACKS." Periwinkle smiled and said,  "Yes, Stinky. Always snacks."

Stinky heard Reesie call his name and immediately guessed what she wanted.  "Stinky, can you help me with these Easter decorations?" she asked.  Always eager to help, he jumped right into the box with the decorations and placemats.

Many paws make work go fast, so the three of them started to decorate.   Knowing that Stinky could sometimes get into trouble, Periwinkle reminded him that the Easter eggs were for the tree, not for batting around.  Stinky blushed and promised to behave.

He did, however, jump up to decorate...

When he finished, they both worked on the fireplace...
They were both tired, so they took a quick nap.  When they woke up, they spent some time whisker-kissing and paw-patting.  Suddenly, both of their tummies rumbled, and they knew that meant snack time.  Periwinkle's Mom knew they would be hungry, so she had a plate of Fancy Feast ready for each of them.

After the snack, Stinky thanked Periwinkle's Mom, visited with Noelle and Reesie for a bit, and hopped into the Teleportation Tunnel to return home.  One last whisker kiss and, with a WOOSH, he was on his way.  Periwinkle went to find Reesie to see if they needed to do more decorating and then to take another long nap in a sun puddle.

We liked those little charts. Very informative, especially for those who don’t have cats or are getting their first one. Did you know, Raleigh always has his tail straight up in the air, but he definitely is not a friendly cat. Mom really liked the spring badge and giggled when she saw kitten Sawyer had grown a short tail. Our kittens are definitely beginning to look and act more like cats … but are still terrorists. Stinky had a great time. Angel Sawyer sends his forever love to Noelle. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid & Sawyer, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Kizmet, Audrey, Raleigh, Gibbs & Tali

Such a good, informative adventure! I think people adopting cats at the shelter should get a copy of the graphic about cat body language.
