We Livestrong Together Today

Today we are turning our blog yellow along with many of our pals to promote cancer Awareness. Our Pals Milo and Alfie were the organizers of this day for the Cat Blogosphere. Here is what they say:

"Cat (and Dog) Bloggers around the World are working together to promote LiveStrong by going YELLOW on their blogs on October 2nd 2010. All bloggers are invited to join in! Our message is FOCUS, NEVER give up HOPE, Have a FIGHTING attitude, have COURAGE and know we ALL SUPPORT you. LIVESTRONG! We believe in the POWER of the PURR! Love Milo and Alfie xx =^..^= =^..^= "

We HATE cancer. Our wonderful sisfur Sniffie had cancer. When we started this post we were using this pretty picture that our friend Ann from Zoolatry made for us. The Zoolatry Dad has been fighting cancer and Milo and Alfie's Mom and Dad have both suffered from this awful disease.

Unfortunately, our Sweet Sniffie left us for the Bridge on Tuesday, Sept 21. She is now an Angel at the Rainbow Bridge. We miss her so much.

What really upsets Mom is that there is so little research being done for FELINE cancer. Yes, there are many research facilities doing work on cancer for animals but most of it is for dogs. Cats have different kinds of cancer and we need more research facilities that are working specifically for our types of cancers. Mom will post more about this when we do our memorial post for Sniffie.
We need to find a cure for this terrible disease before more of our friends and family members are affected.

Our friends Samantha and Clementine and their Mom Chandra have put together this amazing slideshow. Click on the slideshow to see many of our pals who are participating.

There are many more Livestrong posts today. Please visit the We Livestrong Today blog to see them. Also don't forget to stop at the Cats of Wildcat Woods to add your link.

Someday mom was looking information in spanish about feline diseases like feline cancer and FIV for a proyect, but there is not much information about them, in our country people don't even know this diseases exist in cats! Humans need to do more: inform people about them, educate people about them, and find a cure...

What a lovely way to honor Sniffie's memory. Paws up for getting the word out about the lack of research into feline cancer. Not only do cats get different cancers they also react differently to medicines and treatments so it is very important that research be done specifically for CATS.

Comforting Hugs for all of you, we knows how much you still miss Sniffie.

I am thinking about Sniffie today! Cancer is terrible and effects furry and human alike. Our blog is yellow today too and now you have raised awareness in us all that cancer research for cats is sorely lacking!

I'm so sorry for the loss of Sniffle! I've lost two cats in just over 14 months from liver cancer. I had no idea they were ill until about a week before they died. They were relatives so there is a genetic link. Sadly, I have 6 more of their relatives. I pray that none of them come down with the dreadful disease.
