9/11 - we will never forget

We will never forget...

By FAR the day that stands out to most of us in history is 9/11/01. Today, eleven years later, we will never forget... where we were that day... what we were doing when we heard...
Mom and Dad had just returned from a cruise to Alaska.  Dad's brother and a friend were here because they took care of us while Mom and Dad were away.  The TV was on and someone said a plane crashed into the World Trade Center.  Mom immediately called Auntie El who still lived in New Jersey to tell her. Together they all watched the second plane crash into the second tower.  For days after that, Mom says she just remembers silence and numbness. Everyone seemed to whisper, everyone was polite... it was strange. No airplanes in the sky. Constant reminders that life would never be the same again... Even though life eventually got back to normal, even though it was a new normal, America had been changed. We will never forget.

Where were you when you heard?

Our prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in the Towers, at the Pentagon and in the field in Pennsylvania.

That is a day that Mom Paula will never forget. Sometimes it seems as though it were yesterday.

To this day, my human does not like to talk about 9-11. It is too upsetting for her. BTW, for several years in the late 1980s she attended a music conference that was held... in the World Trade Center. So when the towers went down, it took away a part of her life history.

What a beautiful tribute and post. Remembering is honoring.

I received a call from my parents who told me about it. I turned on the TV in time to see the second plane crash into the tower. I remember I kept telling myself it was all a dream...and how I cried when I realized it wasn't.

I wasn´t born on the 9/11/01 , but my mom and dad have told me that they thought they got the wrong channel on TV and was watching a movie instead of the news. They couldn´t beleive that somebody actually made the plane´s crash into the World Trade Center !

Truly a day we will never forget. I was sitting at my desk in my office and couldn't believe what I was hearing on the radio.

Wonderful tribute post.

I wasn't born then, but my mummy says she had just come home from shopping (it was afternoon here in the UK) and had turned on the TV when she saw a plane crashing into the towers. At first she thought 'how dreadful, a plane has crashed.' But then she quickly realized when she saw the second plane that it was a terrorist attack. She watched, numb with shock, with the rest of the world.

Our thoughts are with everyone who lost someone on that day x

I remember as well. I was working for a publishing company in Michigan on the 27th of 28 floors (a tower, obviously not as large but a tower just the same)

I was on the phone talking to a friend of mine that lives in Cleveland and she told me about the first plane.

I got off the phone and ran with others to the HR woman's office. She had a TV on. We witnessed the 2nd plane crash.

About an hour later we were evacuated because they thought since our building was so large we could be at risk. We had to go down 56 flights of stairs. We were shaking.

I drove home numb and watched the ensuing horror on TV as did millions of others.

Thank you for this wonderful post.

I remember it as though it just happened. I was off work that day ready to start my long break. It was a gorgeous cool sunny blue skied day and ABC's GMA was on and I was standing in the deck doorway. I heard them say a plane had crashed into the tower. They showed that from their cameras that were outside their building. Then, as Sawyer was talking and talking about the "accident" I watched in total horror as the other plane came closer and closer..the talking heads never stopped talking about the crash that had happened and were oblivious to what was going on in the monitors right behind them. I knew it was going to crash into the other tower when I saw it approaching yet no one said a word till after it happened.

Then the same horror happened everywhere else..PA., DC, and so on. This too was a "a day that will live in infamy."

Nobody in the entire world can forget about eleven years ago, this fact was one of the great stains of humanity.
Even here in Brazil, we feel vulnerable and united in the pain of Americans.
Hugs.

We weren't borned yet but our mommy was at work in Colorado that day and everybody was just numb and silent. It's so hard to believe that people did this on purpose to other people. We'll never, ever understand that and we'll also never forget.

I was at work and heard about it when I passed the Health & Safety office. They were watching the Towers on television.

If you read my blog you'll know where my Pop was. TW was staring out her office window with her coworkers. She'll never forget the towers falling or the sound of the screams from her coworkers who had loved ones working in the WTC. They're forever etched in her memory.

None of us were born yet on that day. But our mom remembers. She was driving to work that day when they announced on the radio that a plane hit the World Trade Center. When she got to work, everyone watched the TV or listened to the radio. What a sad day.
