Thankful Thursday

Today we're thankful that we have a good, loving home.  There are many kitties who do not.  Mom was asked to help out as a sub for feeding a group of feral cats near our home.

There are 3 sections in this park where the cats live.  Because it is near the beach, there has been a lot of controversy about feeding the cats.   There was a group that wanted to stop the feeding and either euthanize them or let them starve.  Fortunately, that was halted but the cats still need help.  Many of them appear to be housecats that have been dumped here.  If you look closely, you can see the notched ears on quite a few of them which means they have been caught, neutered and released.  It was sad to see them and most of them were very friendly to Mom.  We think they knew that she was there to help.

Here's a slideshow that she put together of the kitties she saw that day.  Please purr and pray that they stay safe.

I feel so bad for these "ferals" - it does not actually sound like many of them are feral, they are just poor housecats who got dumped and really should be living with humans instead of being outside like that. It's a sad situation and I am glad your human is helping them.

No animal wants to be a stray just like no human wants to be homeless. Mommy wishes more people could show more compassion to the less fortunate, animals and humans alike.
Thank you for doing all you can for these kitties (and raccoon)! :)

We're so glad your mom is helping these cats. It's not their fault they were abandoned out there.

We must say a big THANK YOU to your Mom for helping those poor cats - it is so sad to see how they are dumped with no thought of taking them to a shelter.

That is how feral colonies get started - someone dumps their cat and with each litter they get wilder and wilder without any human contact. Thank you for helping these cats.

Sharon, that is such a wonderful thing that you are doing, to help those cats. They look pretty good. I used to put the food in water too to keep the ants out. Thanks so much for helping.

I'm always incensed by humans who dump their pets and the ones who want these animals to starve and be gone. Humans are the problem--not the animals! Kudos to everyone who helps with homeless animals :)

We're glad your mom helped take care of those kitties. It's sad if some of them aren't really feral and were just dumped there but thankfully people are helping them out.

You are an angel to help out. Is there anyway to relocate this colony since they seem to be in danger?

Your mom is awesome for being a sub caretaker for a feral colony. The kitties are all so pretty! It makes us happy to know those kitties have full tummies.

This makes us so sad especially seeing the house cats who are now homeless. Too bad you didn't have some place to take them so they could be safe and get some love. Thanks for doing this. I hope Rocky Raccoon doesn't hurt the cats.

We're also thankful for a good forever home. It always makes us sad when we hear about and see kitties that have no home. How nice of your mom to help out feed them.

We love them all and hope they all find a home someday. But we are amazed that the Siamese cats arent caught and sold by SOME BEINS. TBT says we are sorta espensive... ~ Ayla an Iza
