Trooper Tuesday

Hi everyone, Cousin Trooper here.   Last week the Furkids Mom came over to visit with me and give me a Mani/Pedi.  I was really happy to see her and she spent some time playing and snuggling with me and, of course, taking LOADS of pictures.

Hey there Furkids Mom....good to see you....

What Mani/Pedi?  I think I'll hide back here...

Now here's where I need some advice from my pals.  As you can see, I am still losing my furs. You can see it here on my side....

and you can REALLY see it on my back legs.

I've been to two different VETS and nobody has come up with an answer.  First they thought I was allergic to fleas or something in the house.  My new Mom changed my flea meds but that didn't help.
The second VET thought I might be having a urinary problem and I did.  That's all cleared up now but I'm still losing my furs.  We tried different diets, nothing helped.  Bloodwork looks good.  They tried a cortisone shot...no help.  Has anyone had a problem like this?  Other than that my fur is shiny, I eat well, my weight is stable, I play and have fun.  My new Mom does travel a lot and it might be separation anxiety.  The Furkids Mom suggested Feliway diffusers and we're going to try that.

I hope you think I still look handsome...

Thanks for any and all advice.

Love,
Cousin Trooper

You are still handsome, Trooper and we've missed you!

We recently got our Feliway dispensers started and they definitely work! Hope they help calm you, sweetie.

We love you Trooper and think you look handsome. We wonder if the Katnip Lounge is on the right track...of course we can't imagine living alone, but if your human travels a lot, maybe you need a pal to keep you company?

Cousin Trooper, I do think you need to look at a psychological issue here. I'll tell you why: a few years ago, my human's mother was dying of lung cancer. Her parents had two cats, and one of them, Smokey, pulled out a lot of her fur on her back legs. She is a long-haired black kitty and her legs looked so sad and pathetic. When her mother died in early 2009, eventually Smokey's fur went back to normal. Trooper, I am sure you miss your human, Auntie El, lots and your now-human being out of town a lot is probably very stressful for you! So maybe you should look into some meds to help you with your anxiety.

Diamond had fur loss at one time and the vets couldn't work it out. Then the lady who ran the place he came from said to Lynettea to look at any chemicals she was using. There was a cat deterrent spray she had used at the front door, because of cats coming around at night. She stopped using that and washed the door down. Then Diamond got better. We try to avoid harsh cleaning chemicals around the house. I think cats can also be affected by insecticides.

Sweet Trouper, what a worry for you. No suggestions to offer but lots of love sent.

Ps I recognise those wild eyes when I mention it might be mani/pedi time too....!

Trooper, we're so glad you to see you. But we're sorry about your furs. When all medical issues have been ruled out, it might be anxiety. We hope the feliway helps. You could also try one of the Spirit Essences offered by Jackson Galaxy.

You are still very handsome Cousin Trooper! We've missed you! We agree with Sparkle and are wondering if maybe you can come stay with the Furkids when your new mom has to go out of town?

trooper, you still look handsome. I like to see those spots as places to kiss! Maybe a friend would help.

Hoping they can get to the "bottom" (sorry, couldn't resist!) of that soon!

I rather agree with Sparkle - so I'd work with that first. I hope it all works out for you.

It is so good to see you Cousin Trooper! Yes, it could be stress, but it could also be one lousy flea bite. That is what happened to Sister Zoe. She went to a Vet Dermatologist. Now she is on flea med pills to help from the inside out and an allergic specific med. Good luck pal, we know that is no fun.

The only cats I've had with thinning hair had (1) pulled the fur off of his tail due to stress and (2) over groomed due to a flea allergy. We're glad to hear you're feeling fine otherwise :)

We always enjoy seeing you Cpusin Trouper. We think the Feliway is a really good idea. We also suggest a Sentry calming collar. Good luck with getting your fur back. You are totally handsome either way. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Nice to see you cousin Trooper. Like Sparkle, I also think it could be stress. When Eric first went to the Bridge I groomed and groomed my back legs until they and my tummy were almost bald. I also kept scent marking with the right side of my face and kept doing it so hard that my whiskers broke off. My fur has grown back now but I still have stubby whiskers on one side of my face. Mum used Feliway plug ins for me and they seemed to help.

Looks like lots of good advice Trooper! You look handsome to me:) Hope your new Mom figures out your problem soon. I like the friend idea and I did change all cleaning chemicals in my house when Anne the Puff started pulling the hair out on her front legs last year and that helped her here.

You certainly do look handsome. Too bad about the hair loss - I'd check the ingredients of your food again and maybe change proteins.
