Sunday Selfies

We're pawticipating in The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies today.

Hurricane Dorian not only devastated the lives of the humans in the Bahamas but there are many animals in need of medical care and home.  One of our local rescues Hope for Brevard has taken in 55 cats from the Bahamas.  They will be quarantined for 14 days and then available for adoption.  Here's a little bit of their story from the Hope For Brevard Facebook page:

THE BAHAMA CATS ARE HERE!!!After many weeks of planning and roller coast rides that we endured getting these babies here, they have finally landed in the states. We had to load them as quickly as possible to appease customs so we do not have an exact numbers at the moment. We have about 35 carriers with MULTIPLE cats in each carrier. In order to make it here, some of these cats had to boat to a new island, take a truck ride to the airport, and then endure the plane ride here. Now we have about a 3 hour drive back to Melbourne, Fl. These cats will be with us (H.O.P.E) for their 14 day quarantine. We will update everyone once we get them all set up. If you are able, please donate what you can: hopeforbrevard.com
Our newspaper ran a great article about these kitties and we were amazed at the great selfies these cats took in spite of their ordeal.  Aren't these two precious?

I am so glad that so many have been helped and the community have rallied. These two are charming (and clearly talented selfie-takers) and we are sure that once they clear their health screening they will get loving homes in the community that supported their rescue.

It's wonderful when communities pitch in for a cause to help animals in distress.....our shelter recently took in almost 100 dogs from a puppy mill and is working with volunteers to help them become adoptable - many were in horrible shape when arriving. The community is standing by to adopt them when they are ready. It makes our hearts happy that people care so much EVERYWHERE.

Hugs, Pam and Ted
