Mom has done everything she can think of to keep the Evil Squirrels from stealing all our bird feed. She used to buy safflower seeds because they are not supposed to like it. This year they decided it was yummy. She added a special hot seed, nope, they liked that too. She bought a squirrel baffle (in spite of Mom Janet telling her it wouldn't work). This is the latest photo. This evil squirrel even took a selfie standing on the baffle!!
As we told you yesterday, we'll be watching the REALLY BIG GAME - the Kitten Bowl! Here's a favorite ad from the "other game" from a few years ago.

Those squirrels are persistent little devils!
We bought new bird feeders for this winter which are surrounded by big round cages with bars big enough for the smaller birds to get in. So far they seem to be keeping the squirrels and magpies out, whereas the old feeders with the straight cages didn't stop them.
Say, I'll be if you lube that baffle up all nice and slick that crafty critter wouldn't be able to pose like that. Just sayin'.
It looks like the squirrel is trying to catch birds with a bird feeder hanging from a fishing pole. We once had a bird feeder and we just let the squalls eat the food because they were as cool to watch as the birds. Our feeder also attracted Nanday Conures (Black Hooded Parakeets) which was super awesome at the time although they threw more on the ground that the squirrels did.
The only thing that works here is the barrel shaped baffle. It is placed about 2'below the feeders. The squirrels climb up the shaft into the barrel banging their brainless heads all around the leave.

Did you ever see the squirrel ad (maybe British but probably on you tube) about a squirrel doing an obstacle course to the Mission Impossible music? The fun ever!
I remember seeing that commercial and I LOVED seeing it again! Thank you so much for putting it here. I always watched the Kitten Bowl while I had cable. That is a sadness I bear for not having cable any longer.

EDS's commercial is by far the best !!! and get some of that silver tubing at the hardware store; I sound like a idiot because I don't know what it's called but I can see it in my "minds eye" it's used for like duct work and such...
put it over the chain or whatever the squirrel is using to climb or jump, he can't "hang on to " that tubing stuff...
does this make any sense ?
