In Purrsuit of Flavors

It's time for In Purrsuit of Flavours sponsored by our pals at Easy Rider and kitties from Canadian Cats.  From the Canadian Cats blog:

Did you discuss with Da Phenny what our theme would be?  We were unsure and then Nelly hit on the topic.  Sandwiches!   Most peeps are outside planting or getting ready to play and they don’t want to fuss too much about dinner.  This means any kind of sandwich whether it’s hot or cold.  We’ll call it sensational sandwiches.

Here's our Sensational Sandwich!  Since Mom avoids carbs, this is a BLT lettuce wrap!

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 slices center cut baconcooked and chopped (you can always add MORE bacon!)
  • 1 medium tomatodiced
  • 1 tbsp  mayonnaise
  • 3 large iceberg lettuce leaves
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • 1-ounce avocado (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
  • Carefully remove 2 large outer leaves of a head of lettuce. If you rip or tear one, just save it for the 3rd leaf you need to shred. Shred the 3rd leaf and set aside.
  • Dice tomato and set aside in a bowl.
  • Combine diced tomato with mayonnaise and fresh black pepper.
  • Place lettuce cups on a plate, top with shredded lettuce. Add tomato then bacon and roll it like a wrap and dig in!

Lettuce wraps are delicious and you can do so many different ones, but a BLT is a favorite of mine.

Dad was looking over my shoulder and said "Ooo, Timmy, that is a wonderful idea, Mmmmm" and there you have it. Right from the humans mouth. Me I would lose the lettuce and cut back a bit on the tomato and increase bacon but thats me
Great Purrsuit friends

Oh yes! I like that idea - using lettuce instead of bread or a wrap makes it even more healthy!!

Now that's a great idea. Mom loves chicken lettuce wraps from the Chinese restaurant, but now she can try these at home and we can have bacon!!! Now if only we could find some good iceberg lettuce - it's been lousy lately:(

One of Mom's favorites is a BLT Lettuce Wrap, but she NEVER EVER Thought of Avocados! Yeah! What a terrific wrap! She is so going to make this.

This sounds yummy. Mom always adds avocado to her BLTs, but she has never tried one wrapped in lettuce. Sure would save on calories. Thanks for sharing. This idea is fantabulous, Raz. I would include the avocado to make the sammich extra tasty. Lettuce wraps have intrigued us but we have not tried it. It's time we did.

Thanks for the recipe, Raz.
