We share this post every year but it still brings back the memories of that tragic day...
By FAR the day that stands out to most of us in history is 9/11/01. Today, many years later, we will never forget... where we were that day... what we were doing when we heard...
Mom and Dad had just returned from a cruise to Alaska. Dad's brother and a friend were here because they took care of us while Mom and Dad were away. The TV was on and someone said a plane crashed into the World Trade Center. Mom immediately called Auntie El who still lived in New Jersey to tell her. Together they all watched the second plane crash into the second tower. For days after that, Mom says she just remembers silence and numbness. Everyone seemed to whisper, everyone was polite... it was strange. No airplanes in the sky. Constant reminders that life would never be the same again... Even though life eventually got back to normal, even though it was a new normal, America had been changed. We will never forget.
Where were you when you heard?
Where were you when you heard?
Our prayers are with the families who lost loved ones in the Towers, at the Pentagon, and in the field in Pennsylvania.

Mummy had just got back from a long day in court - and found everyone in the Law Library, gathered around the TV. Nobody knew what to say. Mummy just cried.
Sharon I thank you for these memories and your post both precious. On Sept. 6 2001 we returned from a trip to Budapest (work for me/pleasure for Bryan). Normally we would have stayed extra days after the conference to tour some; however, we had a wedding to attend. So we did our touring before the conference. Otherwise we would have been staying in Budapest for an extra week or more.

We were in Paris, France on vacation..........could hardly wait to get HOME SWEET HOME again.
Hugs, Pam
I had just arrived at work. We live very close to NYC, and almost everyone, it seems, was touched personally (or knows people who were) by the attacks that transpired. We will never forget.
We will never forget.
I was working at my job in a call center, and our target area was New York.
The phone lines went down, and after awhile, they sent us home...so we could watch the news.
So very sad and terrifying.
It was a terrible day for all of us, unthinkable.we shall never forget….
That is a day that will never be forgotten. XO
We sure will never ever forget. That's a wonderful selfie sweet Noelle!
I just started my long break fromm work and I was happily standing at the deck door...partially open enjoying my human whiffies in the perfect day. Deep blue skies, a few beautiful clouds. Amd I was watching GMA on TV. I saw it happen behind Diane Sawyers head as she talked on about something, Finally someone told the duo there...and they turned to watch and speak extemporaneously. The rest is history to Saw the next plane hit the other tower...
Beautiful photo, Noelle! I was at work. Will never forget that day.
Sorry I am late catching up. Teddy did a runner and disappeared overnight. I spotted him but we had to wait until the hunger bit before he came home. We are also mourning Great Britain's reigning monarch so these are sad times.
We love your photo. You look very gracious.
Such a devastating day. Mom and Dad watched the entire thing unfold as they had the Today show on when the first plane hit. It still seems surreal. Two other devastating events mom remembers vividly, are the assassination of JFK and the day Challenger exploded. This was a great post of remembrance. Sawyer is delighted to see his lovely Noelle and sends her many whisker kisses and all his love. 21 years later…and it still seems like it happened yesterday. We will never forget.
You know where my peeps were. Both watched from their windows at work only Pop was right there. TW was across from Penn Station. She tried desperately to call Pop. No working phones.
As a mama of young children, i was home getting the kids ready for pre-K and daycare, and my husband called me in a panic. While i did turn on the small TV just to see a bit of the news, mostly i kept everything turned off that day so the children wouldn't see stuff that might scare them.
We went to the school as usual and everyone kept things as normal for the children as possible, and we explained to them in general terms what had happened without traumatizing them.
It still makes me tear up when i think about it.
Our humans remember that day : it was so unreal, so surreal, so incredible and so terrifying that they couldn't believe for a while that it was really happening. We can't even imagine how your pop and TW felt. Beautiful patriotic selfie ! Purrs
Our city had a National Guard Base at the time, and we had the A 10’s here. They were always flying around so the pilots could get in their flight practice hours. It was eerily quiet on that day and for many days afterwards.
I was at the vet with my then kitties, Toki and Suki. This had just happened, and my vet didn’t know anything about it until I informed them. They had a tv in their break room…so they were able to keep up with all the horrific events of that day.
I'll never forget that day, nor those days that Miss Janet wrote about in her comment.
We need to teach each new generation what this Patriot Day is all about, so that they too won't forget.
A nice patriotic selfie, Noelle.
