Memorial Day Anniversary and Monday Sparks

Today is Memorial Day but it also would have been our Mom and Dad's 23rd Anniversary.  The day they got married really was Memorial Day back then too.  We share this post every year but we know some of our pals have never seen it.  We're going to stay close to Mom today because we know she'll be sad.  They were lucky to have 17 beautiful years together.   Here are a few photos of them from their wedding day.

Boy were they a LOT younger in this picture!!!!  Auntie El was Mom's Matron of Honor and Daddy's friend Larry was his best man.

Oh yeah.....get all mushy on us......

This is our Spark for today...

Even though McGuffy's reader is taking a break, we are continuing our Monday Sparks posts!  From the original Sparks posts:

Welcome to Sparks. Many years ago, it was my intent to post an inspirational thought each Monday. It would be my weekly meditation, and perhaps feed other people's spirit as well. Life got busy, and this fell by the wayside. Now, I feel a strong need to bring this feature back.
The negative energy in the world has become thick and oppressive. Social media has become a part of this dark, negative storm. There is an obvious universal need for more positive energy and peace. And, we can all be part of this affirmative change.
I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!
I hope you will join us. Please link up a positive quote, thought, poem, or verse. The badge and code can be found in my sidebar. Add the badge to your post to invite others. The more, the merrier. I welcome your thoughts. Peace.

What a beautiful wedding picture. Some people's lives are just so short. It is sad that you did not have your father with you for so many more years that you could have enjoyed. Staying with your mother today will be a treat to you.

I hope that even though it was sad to have another anniversary without Bill you felt him right there in your heart where he will always and forever be. You both looked so happy in the wedding photos and I know you were for every second of your time together.

Love, Pam

I know the time Bill has been gone seems longer to you than it actually has been. Such a tragic loss for you and everyone who knew Bill. I am happy to see you two so happy on your wedding day, and I know you will be together again. Sending lots of love, Janet
