Launched globally by the Helen Woodward Animal Center in 2012, this annual awareness campaign falls on the fourth Thursday of September. It reminds the world about the adoptable pets in shelters and remembers those who ran out of time.
Ways to Get Involved
- Share Your Rescue Story: Post a photo of your adopted pet on social media using the hashtags
#RememberMeThursdayand#ShineALight. Tag the Helen Woodward Animal Center to help amplify the message. - Light a Virtual Candle: Visit the Remember Me Thursday Candle Gallery to light a virtual candle in honor of an orphan pet.
- Support Local Shelters: Consider adopting a new pet, fostering a shelter animal, or making a donation to a local rescue organization.

What a wonderful post in honor of a special day of remembering. We are so grateful for the "welcome back" from everyone while we were unable to visit everyone. Hopefully smooth sailing from now one for us! Sending hugs to everyone who missed us.....we missed you too!

Rescue kitties know how to give love back by the ton.
Chaplin: "We're all of us rescues or adoptees here, but if we have to pick one of us to be the poster child for forgotten pets, it would have to be Bean."

I would never get a pet from a breeder when so many are waiting for a home in shelters.
I wish every homeless animal had a forever home. XO
I’m thankful all our cats have been rescues, and I volunteer at the cat shelter because we simply cannot take more.
