Flat Tamir - Hope for Wildlife

Today we're going to share a very special place in Nova Scotia.  Hope for Wildlife.  We found it because this purrty lady was staying at our B&B and was volunteering there for 4 days.

You can read the story of how this wonderful place started HERE.  There was a TV series on Canadian TV about the sanctuary.

Hope for Wildlife's Mission statement:
"Connecting people to wildlife in a positive way - through knowledge and understanding - the Hope for Wildlife Society believes that education through rehabilitation is the key to a sustainable future.

The first place we stopped was the pen where the racoons were eating.  Watch the little guy at the very end..
.

See me in Mom's hand?  He SMACKED me and knocked me right down!!  Mom said I had to go to the car after that.....

In the Learning Center there are quite a few animals that have been helped by Hope for Wildlife.

Topaz is the official greeter...

Oliver the Owl was brought in with a broken left wing which had to be amputated.  He also ended up losing his left eye.  He was a cool dude..

We met Jezebel, a ferret that had been let loose by her owners...

These two sweet sugar gliders Marcel and Ophelia...

Clover was probably smuggled in by someone and then released into the wild.  It's pretty sad when you hear how many sweet anipals are illegally brought in and then released.

This little girl just had her leg amputated.  They think she might have been hit by a car.  Mom got to pet her...she was really scared and they wanted to get her used to people.

If you can,  take some time and visit their website.  There were lots of other anipals there being helped.  Some get released back into the wild, others stay at the sanctuary.

We hope you enjoyed our visit with Hope for Wildlife!

ManCat Monday - Flat Tamir in New Brunswick

Hi furriends, today I am going to continue my travel journal from when Mom and Dad and I  arrived in New Brunswick, Canada!!

Yikes....they really do grow everything big here.  I hope this guy isn't dinner!!!

We settled into a very nice B&B called the Maplegrove Inn.

I knew I'd like it here because there was this cool cat in our room!

Mom took this picture of the full moon that night.

This is Sonya the owner.  Isn't she purrty? She was really nice to me.

She made Mom a wonderful omelette with lobster, scallops and shrimp.  Notice I said she made it for Mom?  Did I get any?  NO!!

After breakfast we headed out to a place called Hopewell Rocks.

This is not a place for a skeerdy cat.  Mom made me wait in the car for this part.  Here's an explanation of some of the rocks (you'll have to biggify to read it)

This tells you a bit about the tides here.  The tides go from the top of the rocks to just wet sand.  It's purrty amazing!!

Tomorrow I get to Nova Scotia and we stay with our friends at the Moonlight Beach Inn.

Wordy Wednesday - Flat Tamir goes to St Augustine

My second day in St Augustine was loads of fun!  Mom's breakfast was cute and was followed by a yummy frittata!!

I went to the Fountain of Youth!  Now I'll remain youthful and ManCatly furever!!  I met this guy named Ponce.  He was kind of interesting but didn't have much to say.

This big fev-ver made a lot of noise but had really purrty colors.

What a show off!  Look at all those peacock fev-vers for us to play with!!!

I met some other cool pirate guys and had some fun checking out their cool clothes.

I think I would be under the bed if this thing ever went off!!

Later on, we went back to our B&B in time for Social Hour.  Look at the yummy noms...

and, of course, a nice cold glass of wine!

Later on the Storyteller arrived and told us great stories about St Augustine!  She was a nice lady and had cats of her own.  I wonder how she got out of her house in black without getting any furs on her?

I hope you enjoyed my trip to St Augustine.  Wait till you see the horrifying video I have to show you of Daddy next!!  I was shocked when I saw what he did!!!

Flat Tamir in Nova Scotia - Fun at Jamieson's

We're getting to the end of my visit to Nova Scotia.  I hope I haven't bored my friends too much.  We have one more post tomorrow and then the other cats and woofies want a chance to blog!!!

One of Mom and Dad's favorite places to eat in Nova Scotia is Jamiesons.   Mom and Dad made sure they took me there so I could meet all the great folks who work there.

Of course, I had to check out the bar....

Dad was watching so I had to behave....

As Skeezix would say, I enjoyed a wee bit o' mother's milk!

The mussels were fabulous!!!  The chowder was very nommy too, but I only had the mussels.  Mom made sure I wore a bib so I didn't get mussel broth on my furs.

When it was time to leave, I made sure I got my picture taken with our favorite waitress, Kristin.  Isn't she purrty?  She's a super nice lady too!!

We were sad to leave our favorite place for noms because we know it will be a while before we can return.  Mom is craving those mussels and that delicious seafood chowder as she helps me post this!!!

Flat Tamir in Nova Scotia and Happy Tocktober Happy Birthday Derby!

Every year we celebrate our pal Derby's birthday by doing a Tocktober post!  Today's photos are a bit blurry, but they are of a kitty we met in Nova Scotia!  The kitty's name was Scotia and was even bigger than 3D Tamir!!

Scotia checking out Dad's shoes...

Scotia lives in a town called Baddeck.....

I really enjoyed the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck.  Here I am giving him some advice....
I even spotted something familiar....Here's a Canadian lady who was an astronaut on the Space Shuttle!

Here I am with Scotia's Mom Mari.....yeah....I really get along with the ladies!!  Hey....does she have her hand on my 'tocks???

Mari and her Mom and Dad run the place we stayed at.  The Water's Edge Inn.  Here's the view from our room

Flat Tamir in Nova Scotia - checking out the Noms!

I'm posting the map from the airport to our B&B so you can keep track of my travels!
Mom and Dad wanted to do some sightseeing. Mom says everywhere you look you see beautiful sights like this...

I enjoyed the ride but I got really hungry.  Check out this place.....there are some scary pictures on the building (you might want to biggify)

Hmmm....they did have Take Out!!

I decided I wanted to see what kind of noms the Nova Scotia kitties like and found the international favorite is.....TEMPTATIONS and Party Mix!!!

Look.....Nova Scotia cats eat French Noms!!

Always the flirt, I managed to score some points with the cashier!!  Notice what Mom and Dad bought.....bacon chips!!
