The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

Tuesday morning is always busy for Periwinkle.  She gets up early and spends extra time grooming her furs so she looks as nice as possible for her boyfriend, Stinky.  When she is done, she waits (not so)patiently by the Teleportation Tunnel for his arrival.  She jumps up when the Tunnel starts to shake and the familiar WOOSH lands him right in her waiting paws.  They spend some time whisker kissing, paw patting and catching up on the last week.  Soon Periwinkle takes Stinky's paw and leads him back into the Tunnel.  

After a very short trip, they arrive at their destination for the day.  Stinky giggles and says "this is amazing" which makes Periwinkle giggle too.

Periwinkle explained that they were in St Cloud and were visiting a small, privately owned, exotic animal rescue.  Periwinkle explained "The majority of the animals here have been surrendered by owners after they realized they were in way over their heads with a wild animal they thought could be a pet or found themselves unable to care for them. Others have been retired from zoos and educational programs where they interacted with people. Some of the animals, like wild-caught boa constrictors, have been removed from the lands they are invading and rather than be destroyed, find a new life here. Many of the birds and other native Florida species have been hurt or orphaned and are deemed unable to be released by the state."  Impurressed by her knowledge, Stinky took her paw and they went off to visit the animals.

They first came upon this sweet family of Capybara...

Periwinkle pointed out the sign telling more about them (you might need to biggify)

Always the scamp, Stinky ran off and Periwinkle found him "hanging out" with the sloth...

                                            

From there the saw the Fennec Foxes.  They both were amazed by how much they resembled cats.

Periwinkle said, "According to Wikipedia, The fennec fox is a small crepuscular fox native to the deserts of North Africa, ranging from Western Sahara and Mauritania to the Sinai Peninsula. Its most distinctive feature is its enormous ears, which serve to dissipate heat and listen for underground prey. The fennec is the smallest fox species."

With apologies to da Tabbies, they visited the burds...

They were amazed by the Patagonian Mara...

Having done her research, Periwinkle explained "The Patagonian mara is a relatively large rodent in the mara genus Dolichotis. It is also known as the Patagonian cavy or Patagonian hare. This herbivorous, somewhat rabbit-like animal is found in open and semi-open habitats in Argentina, including large parts of Patagonia."  Stinky smiled and told her how impurressed he was with her knowledge which made Periwinkle blush.

They saw a Bobcat...

and a marbled fox...

They stopped to read about the Ring-Tailed Lemur...

and then they visited him...

It was almost time to go but they wanted to visit the Geoffroy's Cat...

He seemed interested in them too...

As much as they didn't want to leave, they knew it was time to head back to Periwinkle's house.  They had a snack on the back porch since the weather was nicer...

Stinky spent some time visiting Periwinkle's Mom and fursib and then the two took some time to whisker kiss, paw pat and hug before Stinky had to leave.  

Stinky hopped into the Teleportation Tunnel and blew one last whisker kiss and, with a WOOSH, headed home.  Periwinkle found a sun puddle and napped and dreamed about her next Adventure with Stinky.

As always, Periwinkle woke up early because she knew her boyfriend Stinky was coming for their weekly Adventure.  She was excited because they were going someplace that just opened.  Suddenly, the Teleportation Tunnel shook and, with a WOOSH, out popped Stinky!  They spent some time whisker kissing and paw patting and then Periwinkle took him by the paw and they re-entered the Tunnel.

The trip was short since they only went to Orlando, which was close to Periwinkle's home.  Stinky's eyes opened wide and he jumped up and down when he saw where they were.  "Periwinkle, this is too cool.  I know this place just opened" said Stinky.  Periwinkle smiled and explained "Minion Land" is an immersive new area that was made between Universal’s creative team and the filmmakers from Illumination."  She led him down the path where they met Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes.

Holding paws, the two walked through the park where they got to take Memory photos with the Minions.

They stopped to rest and chat with others...

Periwinkle led Stinky to the food area where they could pick out their meals and take them to their table.

They each chose a plate of Fancy Feast.  

After their snack, they decided to head to Bake My Day for a treat...

They picked out some sweets to take home to their Moms and then headed to the gift shop.

Thoughtful Tabbies that they are, they both picked out tote bags to bring home to their Moms.

Periwinkle explained that Villain-Con is part of the Minions experience where you can enjoy an interactive experience with the characters.  They decided to save that for their next visit.

Soon it was time for them to head home.  They re-entered the Teleportation Tunnel and headed back to Periwinkle's house.  They both agreed that they would return to Minion Land one day soon.

When they arrived at her house, they spent time whisker kissing and paw patting and then Stinky visited with Periwinkle's Mom and fursibs and then headed into the Teleportation Tunnel and back to his house.  

Stinky blew a kiss to Periwinkle and, with a WOOSH, headed home.

Periwinkle paced back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel.  She hoped Stinky wasn't late because they were going to head out in the Tunnel when he arrived.  Soon she heard the familiar WOOSH and he popped out.  After a quick whisker kiss and paw pat, she took his paw and they headed to their destination.

"Wow, this is amazing" said Stinky when they arrived.

Periwinkle explained that they were in St Petersburg to see the Chihuly Glass exhibition.  Stinky exclaimed, "Wow, are we in Russia?" Periwinkle laughed and said they were still in Florida but on the other side of the state from her house.  Stinky blushed and mumbled "I knew that" which made Periwinkle roll her eyes but she didn't say anything.

Paw in Paw, they entered the building.

When they looked up, they both knew that they had to get one of those umbrellas for their Moms.

Moving along, they ooohed and ahhed at the spectacular glass creations.  They stopped to learn about the Persian Wall.

They took a Selfie by the colorful glass exhibition of the Rainbow Sea.

The Saucers were really pretty.  They both agreed it would be nice to get their stinky goodness in one.

Before she could stop him, Stinky jumped into one of them.

As always, Periwinkle had researched the Collection.  "The CHIHULY COLLECTION is a stunning, permanent collection of world-renowned artist Dale Chihuly’s unique artwork. This presentation is unique as it is the first installation of Chihuly art in a building designed specifically for that purpose. Designed so that the art and architecture work together to create a visitor experience unlike any other exhibition of Chihuly’s art. The Collection is marked at the entrance by an iconic 20-foot sculpture created especially for the site.

The Collection includes Chihuly’s spectacular large-scale installations such as Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier created specifically for the Collection along with several popular series works including Macchia, Ikebana, Niijima Floats, Persians and Tumbleweeds, which have thrilled audiences around the globe. Each space has been designed individually to complement each installation producing unique visual experiences."

Stinky was impurressed by her knowledge.  He knew she really put a lot of work into their Adventures just like he did.  They came upon a demonstration of twirling glass and stopped for a while.  Stinky was invited to get closer to observe.

The lady twirling the glass asked Periwinkle to come up closer too.

Walking along Periwinkle told Stinky more about Chihuly "A pioneer of the studio glass movement, Chihuly is credited with transforming the methods of creating glass art and thereby leading the development of complex, multi-part glass sculptures and environmental art. However, his contributions extend well beyond the boundaries of the studio glass movement and even the field of glass: his achievements have influenced contemporary art in general.

Over the years the artist has created a number of memorable installations including “Chihuly Over Venice” with the sculptures installed over the canals and piazze; “Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem”, attended by more than one million visitors, and the “Chihuly Bridge of Glass” in Tacoma, Washington.

Each piece was incredible...

Soon it was time for them to head back to Periwinkle's house.  After a quick snack, some whisker kisses and visiting with Periwinkle's fursibs and Mom, Stinky got back into the Teleportation Tunnel and headed home.  Periwinkle smiled to herself and settled down for a nap to dream of her handsome boyfriend.

Today is Tuesday and that means those adorable tabbies, Periwinkle and Stinky, are having an adventure.   Click HERE to teleport over to The Cat On My Head to see what they're up to!

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

Stinky sat by the Teleportation Tunnel eagerly awaiting Periwinkle's arrival.  They usually took turns visiting each other but today they had special plans.

WOOOSH.....he heard the sound from the tunnel and stepped back quickly and just in time to catch Periwinkle as she flew out of the tunnel!  They spent some time hugging each other and sharing whisker kisses.  They loved Tuesdays because it was their "special" day!

"Are we all set for our adventure today?" asked Periwinkle.  Stinky said they were and he confirmed that everything was in place.  Stinky said, "It's even more special today because it's National Black Cat Day!" 

The two were headed back to the House of Black Cats where they visited last year.  As always, they were aware of how dangerous Halloween could be for Black Cats and their friend Walter made sure the black cats were safe.

As they approached the house, they could see some of the residents staring out the windows.

They rang the bell and Walter greeted them with warm hugs and welcoming paw pats.  Walter told them that there were even more cats at the house this year.   Periwinkle squeed with delight when she noticed a Mom cat and kittens!

Both tabbies took a walk out back and introduced themselves to some of the other residents.

All of the cats told them how fortunate they were to have found Walter and what a great cat he was.  Checking back with Walter, Periwinkle said "Did you get our delivery?"  Walter replied that he did and was amazed by their generosity.  "We decided to have our donations delivered this year because the Cat Scout volunteers couldn't help us bring things over," said Stinky.  Walter took them to the storage room where they saw one of the black cats guarding the box of Temptations they sent.

They both giggled and said that if any of the cats were like Periwinkle's brofur Raz they would need that guard!

Both tabbies jumped up and down with glee when they saw the big pallets of Fancy Feast that was delivered.  Like last year, it was ordered with donations from Cat Scouts and the help of both of their Moms.

After some time visiting with Walter and all of the black cats, Periwinkle and Stinky said their goodbyes and told them to all stay safe. Walter and the cats thanked them again and they headed back to Stinky's house.

"All that talk about Temptations and Fancy Feast made me hungry" said Stinky.  Always the planner, Periwinkle said she brought them a snack and thought it would be nice to enjoy it outside with the beautifully colored leaves.  After their snack they spent some time hugging, sharing whisker kisses and holding paws.

Before it was time for Periwinkle to leave, they decided to try on their Halloween costumes.

"Stinky, you look so cute," said Periwinkle.  Blushing he said he thought she did too!  Both tabbies were sad to know it was time for Periwinkle to leave.  She hopped back into the Teleportation Tunnel and blew a kiss to Stinky.  With a WOOSH, she was headed home.  Both tabbies had smiles on their faces knowing that they not only had a great time together but did something to help the Black Cats.
