The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

It was a beautiful Tuesday morning, and Periwinkle was sitting by the Teleportation Tunnel, her furs neatly groomed and her whiskers twitching with excitement. She had received a message from their friend Walter, who ran a very special place called Walter’s House of the Black Cats. Periwinkle had texted Walter earlier, and Walter had invited her and her handsome fiancé, Stinky, to do their annual visit and learn what supplies the black cats needed.

With a rumble of the Tunnel and a WOOSH,  Stinky popped out of the Tunnel and landed beside her. After their usual whisker kisses and paw pats, Periwinkle shared the plan. “As you know, Walter takes care of black cats who need safety and love especially at Halloween when it's dangerous for black cats” she explained. “He said he could use some help, so today we’re going to find out what he needs.”

“That sounds great.  I always love visiting Walter and the sweet kitties he rescues!” Stinky purred. “Let’s go!”

They put in the coordinates and got into the Tunnel, and suddenly the two tabbies found themselves in front of a familiar house with a wooden sign that read: “Walter’s House of the Black Cats.”

All around the house, black cats played in the grass or napped in the sunshine. Some were shy, peeking from behind flower bushes, while others came right up to say hello.

Of course, the first thing Periwinkle had to do was run to the kitten room.  Stinky could hear her SQUEEE all the way outside, so he ran to join her.

Both tabbies agreed that these were the cutest kittens ever.  Of course, they say that every year!

Walking around they spotted other familiar faces and some new ones.  Periwinkle barely got the words "Please don't climb up there"  out of her mouth when Stinky ran up to hang out with a resident, Lilith, on the roof!

A  familiar sleek black cat with bright green eyes walked toward them. “Welcome, Periwinkle and Stinky!” he said warmly. “Thank you for coming to visit us again.” Periwinkle smiled and said,  “Hi Walter! We look forward to this every year.”

Walter nodded. “As you know, these cats all came from different places. Some were scared or alone, but now they’re safe here. I make sure they have food, warmth, and love—but keeping everything stocked can be a challenge, especially this time of year when we take so many more in.”

Walter invited them onto the porch, where a few kittens were tumbling around a basket. He handed Periwinkle a small notepad. “Maybe you can help me make a list of things we need,” he said. Periwinkle carefully wrote as Walter talked, while Stinky played gently with one of the kittens who insisted on batting at his paw. 

Periwinkle nodded thoughtfully. “That’s a lot of important things, but we’ll help get them.” Stinky added, “We’ll come back next Tuesday with everything on the list!”

Walter’s eyes softened with gratitude. “You two are such kind friends. The Black Cats and I are lucky to have you.”

It was getting late and they had to head back home, Walter walked them back to the Teleportation Tunnel. The black cats gathered nearby, purring and waving their tails in thanks.

One of the residents came up to Periwinkle and Stinky and handed them wrapped packages.  "These are for your parents.  We want them to know how much we appreciate your visits and your help.  We hope they enjoy them.

Periwinkle looked around at the residents and smiled. “This place is so special. We’ll be back soon, Walter.” “I’ll be waiting,” Walter said, with a warm smile.

Stepping back into the Tunnel, they headed to Periwinkle's house.  They had a snack and spent some time snuggling, whisker kissing, and paw patting.  Soon it was time for Stinky to head home. Stinky gave a final paw pat and a whisker kiss before stepping into the Tunnel. “See you next Tuesday,   and next week we’ll bring the goodies!” Periwinkle purred happily. “Yes, we will. The Black Cats are going to be so excited!”

A rumble and a WOOSH, and off he went.  Periwinkle found a quiet spot and started working on Walter's list.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

Periwinkle excitedly waited by the Teleportation for the arrival of her fiance, Stinky.  They were going to do something today that was a fun tradition and she knew Stinky would be on time.  Sure enough, the Tunnel began to shake and the familiar WOOSH sent Stinky right into her waiting paws.  The spent time whisker kissing, catching up and paw patting.  Stinky knew they had to get on their way so, paw in paw, they re-entered the Tunnel for their destination.

Yes, they are making their traditional visit to Walter and the Black Cats.

As soon as they arrived, they were greeted by some of the residents who were watching them from the house's windows.  They were told that the usual guards, Shadow and Freddy, were on patrol but would stop by to say hello when they were done.

Of course, it didn't take long before Stinky heard Periwinkle's "SQUEEE" and he knew right away that she found the newest litter of kittens.  Stinky joined her and they spent some time with the kittens and their mom.  They were so lucky to be born in the safe environment the Walter had created.

The tabbies giggled when they saw these kittens "in training" in their litter box.

As they walked around the house chatting with the other residents, Stinky suddenly dashed off.  Rolling her eyes, Periwinkle knew he was up to something.  Sure enough, she found him up in a tree with a new friend.

Sighing, Periwinkle said, "Stinky, please get down, I don't want you falling out of that tree."  Sheepishly he got down and apologized.  

They wandered around and found some kitties hanging out by the window.  They were thrilled to finally meet the famous Periwinkle and Stinky and told them how much they appreciated all they did to help Walter.

As they visited, Walter caught up with them and told them how glad he was to see them.  They mentioned how much they admired his decorations.  "I try to show that black cats are not scary or evil but sweet and friendly" he said.

Walter added, "Halloween can be a risky time for black cats, as they are often associated with superstitions and myths that can lead to harm or mistreatment."  Periwinkle and Stinky agreed that it was very important any time of year but even more so at Halloween.  Sadly, they knew that black cats are the last to be adopted at shelter.

Stinky asked Walter if he had a list for them.  He apologized that it was the same as last year but things were more expensive and he appreciated anything they could bring.

Walter had to leave but told them to stay as long as they would like.   He told them to stop by the feeding area and enjoy a snack with some of the permanent residents.  Since their tummies were rumbling, they decided that was a great idea.

It was time to leave.  Periwinkle and Stinky left a note for Walter telling him they would be back next week with the items on his list.  

Waving goodbye to their new friends, they entered the Teleportation Tunnel and headed back to Periwinkle's house.  They snuggled for a while, whisker kissed and held paws and took a short nap in a sun puddle.  Stinky said hi to Periwinkle's fursibs and her Mom and then hopped back into the Tunnel to return home.  Periwinkle smiled to herself already planning on ordering the items from the wish list to bring to Walter next week.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

Periwinkle sat by the Teleportation Tunnel waiting for her boyfriend, Stinky, to arrive.  They had a lot to do today and she hoped he would be on time.  She didn't have to wait long for the Tunnel to rumble, shake and propel Stinky out right into her waiting paws.

The tabbies spent some time whisker kissing, paw patting and snuggling before Periwinkle told Stinky they had a lot to do and should get started.  Stinky knew some of what she had planned and agreed.  Giggling, they both hurried to change.

In unison, they both said "We had so much fun having our friends pick out our Halloween costumes last year that we thought we should do the same thing this year.  We hope lots of our friends leave comments saying which ones we should wear."

Always the gentlemancat, Stinky let Periwinkle go first.

Laughing at their costumes, they both quickly got back into their furs for the next part of their Adventure which was the annual trip to see Walter and the black cats.

As they approached the house, they were met with the newest guards Shadow and Freddy.  

"Hi Periwinkle and Stinky," said Shadow.  "We knew you were coming today so you can head right down to the house.  Walter is expecting you."   The two thanked the guards and made their way to the house.

Having been here before, they were not scared when they saw the eyes peering out of the windows.  Walter came to the door and greeted them with paw hugs.  He explained that all of the kitties they met last year were adopted but, sadly, there were many more he was sheltering this year.  They were happy for the ones that found homes and couldn't wait to meet the newest residents.

Suddenly, Periwinkle let out a loud "SQUEEE" and ran to the first room.  Following her, Stinky saw that there were Mom cats with kittens.

Walter explained that the Moms and kittens would stay with him until the kittens were old enough to be adopted.  He would make sure they had good, safe homes.

Periwinkle and Stinky wandered through the house and saw the older kittens.  They spent some time playing with them and assuring them that Walter would make sure they had great lives.

Stinky stopped to meow with two fursibs who were just "hanging around"  the house.

Eventually, Walter returned with his list.  He was apologetic that there were so many items on it and said he didn't list quantities of treats and "extras" because he knew green papers were tight for all but they would appreciate whatever the two tabbies could bring him.

Periwinkle and Stinky said goodbye to the black cats and to Walter.  They promised to return with his requests.

Back at Periwinkle's house, they visited with her fursibs and her Mom and spent some time whisker kissing and paw patting.  They hoped they could get a lot of the items on Walter's list.  With one last whisker kiss, Stinky headed back into the Teleportation Tunnel to return home.

The Halloween Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

 

It's been a busy week for our favorite tabbies.  After last week's visit to Walter and the black cats (Click HERE if you missed it) they spent the week placing orders and getting donations for their annual contribution.  Walter's list was long this year but they managed to get everything he requested.

While Periwinkle was checking things off the list, she heard the WOOSH and Stinky tumbled out of the Teleportation Tunnel right into her paws.  After a brief time of whisker kissing and paw patting, they hopped back into the tunnel because they knew they had a lot to do.  They were giggling when they entered the tunnel and hoped Walter knew who they were when they arrived.

When they popped out of the tunnel, they were immediately approached by the guard cats who watch over Walter's house.  The guards wanted to know who they were since they very rarely got visits from bees and mice.

Not wanting to upset the guards, they quickly took off their masks and revealed themselves.  "OH MY COD, it's Periwinkle and Stinky" the guards shouted!   There were lots of hugs and greetings and the guards commented on how cute they looked in their costumes and apologized for not recognizing them.  "Don't be upset, we know how careful you have to be protecting the black cats here" said Stinky.

The guards led them to the house where they were greeted by Walter.  As always, they could see residents peeking out the windows.

Walter tells the tabbies that packages have been arriving all week.  Periwinkle explains that they had hoped her brofur Raz could fly the Cat Scouts plane to deliver the packages but he had some tummy troubles and their Mom wanted him to stay home.

Stinky moves into action as he hears the caravan of Amazon vans pull up.  He runs outside with the sign to let them know which way to go.

Periwinkle and Stinky start unloading the vans with the help of the residents and Walter.

Walter gasped as he saw so many cartons!  "You two outdid yourselves this year" he said.  Both tabbies said that they were fortunate to have so many good Scouting and blogging friends who were happy to donate to such a good cause.  

Lots of Fancy Feast...

The beds were super popular and a couple of the residents jumped right in to try them out.

Periwinkle and Stinky even tried out the GINORMOUS cat tree!

They had pallets of litter too.

And, of course, TREATS!

"Everykitty loves treats" said Periwinkle and giggled because her brofur Raz is known as the TREAT MONSTER.  Stinky giggled too because his brofur Sawyer loves treats too.

Walter was overwhelmed by what the two had done for the black cats.  "You two are amazing.  I always am so surprised by what you can accomplish."  The tabbies blushed and said they know how important the work he did saving black cats was and wished it wasn't necessary.

It was time for them to head home but they stopped to visit with some of their friends from the previous years.

Waving goodbye to Walter and their other friends, they headed back into the Teleportation Tunnel and to Periwinkle's house.  Since it was Halloween, they decided to do a little trick-or-treating before Stinky had to go home.  They agreed that, as cute as their costumes were, they were a bit warm for Florida so they put on disguises and hats instead.

After they trick or treated, they watched Peaches and Paprika's Meowleen slideshow.  Periwinkle's fursib Noelle was in it!

Soon it was time for Stinky to head home.  They were both exhausted but agreed that it felt good to see Walter and to help the black cats.   With a whisker kiss and a WOOSH, Stinky was headed home in the Tunnel.  Periwinkle headed to her favorite bed for a nap and to dream of her handsome boyfriend.
