Thursday in the Garden...sort of

Hey Allie.....did you see those woofies trying to photobomb our post?  Sheesh.....the nerve.

Don't worry Ellie....we're still going to do our garden post.

Did you know our Daddy has lots and lots of Plumeria (Frangipani) trees?  He has all different colors and Auntie El always enjoyed seeing them and smelling their beautiful scents.

Right after Auntie El went to the Human Bridge, Cousin Troopers new Mom asked if our Daddy got his gift.  We found a box with two of these special vases in it.  They are shaped so you can put the Plumeria flowers in them and it looks like a lei.   Isn't it pretty?  It seems Auntie El ordered one for our Daddy because he's hard to find gifts for.  Charlotte picked it up for her and she was saving it for a special occasion.  It was a bittersweet present since Auntie El never got to see how much our Daddy liked it.

OMC how could Mom have missed it!!  Last year was the first time we knew Angel Tamir's gotcha Day and  we just read on the CB that it's today.

Sweet Tamir......miss you so much and we hope there's a big Gotcha Day Party for you at the Bridge today.
Here's a pic of the big guy when he was just a little guy....

Happy Gotcha Day Angel Tamir. Please say hi to Auntie El and Sniffie for us.  We miss them a lot too.
Love,
Mom and Raz, Ellie, Allie, Cubby, Clifford and Cousin Trooper

Flashback Friday

A couple of years ago the Photo Hunters theme was Reflection....This was Tamir's post.  We like how you can see all the colors of his purrty furs in both pictures. Tamir was a really big guy, wasn't he??  We sure miss him a lot.

Tamir says "See my reflection in the window?"
You can even see the reflection of my laser eyes!

Flashback Friday

Tamir and Allie were good buddies.  We think Allie missed Tamir a lot when he went to the Bridge.  She's good buds with Raz now too but she doesn't sleep with him like she did with Tamir.

Thursday Thoughts.....

It's hard to believe that 3 months ago our big guy Tamir left for the Bridge.  Mom got really leaky eyed when she took out the Christmas stockings and saw his.  She's made a special place on the mantle for  Tamir and Sniffie's stockings.

Sweet Tamir, we miss you and love you.  We sure wish you were here to celebrate Christmas with us.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy and your fur sibs.

Photo Hunters - Mural

This week's Photo Hunters theme is MURAL.

Mom's been feeling sad because this time last year she had a job...and then she didn't.  She remembers what fun they had when Flat Tamir went to work with her.  Here he is working out.  You can see the hand painted mural in the upper right corner behind him.    Good times..............

Friday Friends with Angel Tamir

Hi furriends, Angel Tamir here.  I wanted to know if you thought I did a good job picking out Raz?  Do you like him?  I know Mom will always miss me and love me, but I wanted her to have a kitty to fill the big hole I left in her heart.

Thanks for giving him such a warm Cat Blogosphere welcome!!

Love,
Angel Tamir

Photo Hunters - Seasonal

Today's Photo Hunters theme is SEASONAL.

Mom always decorates the house with special SEASONAL decorations.  Tamir knew how to find the ones that looked best with his ManCatly furs. If you biggify the picture you will notice there are SEASONAL decorations for both Fall and Christmas as well as a nice brown paper bag!

Wordy Wednesday

Mom got an email from Purina PetCentric the other day and spotted this picture.  Of course, she had to read the whole story when she saw that this was about a BIRMAN like us!!!

On a difficult news day that may have made you question your faith in humanity, we were delighted to spot a story that reaffirmed our faith in, well, felinity: an article in The Sun about a fluffy kitty named Jessi-cat who's helping her young owner to find his voice.

Lorcan Dillon is a 7-year-old from Davyhulme, Greater Manchester who suffers from an anxiety condition that makes it almost impossible for him to communicate or express emotion. But that all began to change when his mother, Jayne, brought home a cream-colored Birman cat named Jessi-cat a couple of years ago. (Birmans, not to be confused with Burmese, are semi-longhaired cats with distinctive sapphire eyes and pure white "gloves" on each paw.)

Lorcan bonded strongly with Jessi-cat, and as a result, he's better able to show affection, Jayne told The Sun. "The bond between Lorcan and Jessi-cat is so touching as he's able to show physical affection to her which he doesn't like doing with people – even me." Not every cat is up for lots of canoodling, but according to Jayne, Jessi loves it: "She's such a delightful, responsive cat and he hugs and kisses her all the time." Aw.

The article also says that Lorcan is doing better in social situations recently. In the last couple of weeks, Jayne said, he's "started communicating with people he doesn't know very well and even reads to one of the teachers now," which he hasn't done before (aw!). And he's started saying "I love you" for the first time. Awwww!

Jayne noted that cuddling and spending time with the cat is a way for Lorcan "to express his emotions that otherwise he wouldn't be able to do."

Numerous studies have suggested that pets can help with anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses; pet-assisted therapy is offered by senior centers, hospitals, and even universities during exam periods. Jessi-cat may have no formal training and only one "client," but she's still doing great work. She sure made us feel better today.

Here's a video that tells more of the story.

We hope you enjoyed the video and the story.  Even though we were a bit partial (because we're Birmans!), we think therapy pets do wonderful work!!

Tamir has been an Angel for a Month

Today is Tamir's one month anniversary at the Bridge.  We can believe our sweet ManCat has been gone for so long.  Mom asked us if we would let her post today, and we said yes.  We hope she doesn't embarrass us!!

Thanks furkids....I'll do my best
Sweet Gracie made this lovely graphic for our boy.

There are so many things I miss about my boy.  From the day I found him at the shelter, we had a special bond.  Tamir howled all the way from the shelter because he was scared of the PTU.  I found out that he and his brother had been left at the shelter in the PTU and were probably there for hours before someone found them.  Your MEHOWL was a signature as you grew up.  When you were looking for me or even when you went into a room you had to announce yourself....in a blood curdling HOWL!  I sure miss that sound.  You would do the same thing when you thought the food bowl was getting a bit too low....you never wanted to miss a meal!!  You never really knew how big you were....you were always trying to squeeze into small spots!  We were always amazed at how you could get into the small PTU, turn around and snooze!!

Your meow was loud but your purr was even louder.  Once your Daddy thought he heard a helicopter over the house but he was wrong - it was your PURR!  You would purr the second I touched your furs.  Sometimes at night you would get up on my pillow and purr me to sleep.  You loved snuggling with me in bed and would bodyslam the bedroom door if it was closed.  It's lonely in the bed now.  I reach for you and you're not there.  I even miss your snore.  Even making the bed is sad because you taught me how to make it without disturbing your naps.  I  learned how to strip the bed and put clean sheets on by only moving you a tiny bit.  You were a good teacher!

You loved belly rubs and ham and being brushed.  I have a little baggy of your furs from brushing you the night before you left for the Bridge.  Your special treats are still on the table......

I miss you so much.  I know you and Sniffie are happy to be together again at the Bridge but it doesn't make losing you easier.  I see you in your bed, on the chair and walking by me at night. I hope these are all signs that you are happy at the Bridge.  I will always love you and you will always be with me.
I talk to you every time I pass your Urn.  I love seeing your sweet face.

Tamir's Urn

Till we're together again............

I Love you,
Mommy

Flashback Friday - Tamir and Gracie

This week is the 2012 Cat Blogosphere trip to Australia  which is being lead by Gracie.  If you haven't been following, you should go check Gracie's blog to see what they've been up to!

Did you know that before Tamir got sick he and Gracie scouted out the area????  They really had a lot of fun...

Here's what Gracie had to say about their trip:

"We had a blast surfing the fine waters of Australia! Just notice how fast Tamir was speeding through the water! He was going so fast his swimming cap almost flew off of his sweet head. We, as you can see, we had extra company join us, Nemo and his friends caught and road the many waves with us.

Well as you can see our surfing came to a quick close. We were in the water having fun when Joey, our friend in the left of the photo, tweeted us out of the water with his whistle. Sharks had been spotted in the water so we had to get out, which we were more than happy to do so. We quickly headed to the beach and had a picinic. Joey joined us and was giving us tips on where we should visit when we return in October."

Flashback Friday with Angel Tamir

Mom found this post that she had saved in draft for a ManCat Monday.  Since it's October and things are getting spooky, we thought we would share it today as a Flashback Friday.  Tamir sure did have powerful lasers!!!

Here's what it would have said:

Don't turn on those lights.....I'm using my powerful lasers to keep Monday away!!

Tamir was good at avoiding Mondays!  We sure miss the big guy.

Thankful Thursday - Cousin Trooper won a prize

Back in July, our pal Garth Riley had a silly photo contest.  We entered Cousin Trooper in the contest and HE WON!  Cousin Trooper  won first prize in the Pure Silliness -- Silly Kitty division.  Here's the photo we submited:

Because of Auntie El's chemo and then losing our sweet ManCat Tamir, we didn't get the post and slideshow put together until now.  Here's Cousin Trooper with his prize package.  We hope you enjoy the slideshow Mom put together.

Thanks again to  our pal Garth Riley for having this fun contest and for the super awesome prize package.  You know what made it even better????? Seeing the smile on Auntie El's face when she saw the cool ornaments and the great photo frame!  For some reason, the Temptations and jingle ball toys didn't excite her like they did Cousin Trooper!!
