The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle spent extra time grooming while she watched the Teleportation Tunnel.  Today was Tuesday and it was her turn to come up with an Adventure.  She hoped Stinky liked what she had planned even though she knew they enjoyed their time together no matter what the plan was.

With a rumble and a WOOOSH Stinky tumbled out of the Tunnel.  After whisker kisses and paw pats, he asked what the plan for the day was.  Periwinkle explained that it was still super hot out and she thought they should stay in the cool air conditioning.  Stinky agreed and followed Periwinkle to the dining room where she had the laptop opened up.

"Tomorrow is National Coloring Book Day so I thought we could color some pictures and show our friends some cool books they could buy and some free downloadable pages.  Stinky thought that was a great plan and they got to work searching the Internet.

"Look at this great site Coloring Pages.  Lots of cool cat coloring pages to download for FREE" said Periwinkle.  "I really like this page.  We should print it out and color it."

While they colored, Periwinkle told Stinky a little more about National Coloring Book Day. "In May 2015, Dover Publications established National Coloring Book Day. Dover Publications is the industry pioneer. Around the year of 1970, Dover published Antique Automobiles Coloring Book, their first adult coloring book. The McLoughlin Brothers’ publication of “The Little Folks Painting Book” in the late 1800s is credited with creating the very first coloring book. They kept publishing books of this type after that until they teamed up with the Milton Bradley Company around the 1920s.

The purpose of National Coloring Book Day is to promote awareness of the lengthy tradition of coloring books and the delight they can provide for both kids and adults. Yes, even grown-ups can enjoy coloring! There are books that go into painstaking depth that are aimed at adults. Every school has coloring books, which were employed for everything from education to counseling and wellness purposes. Even specific coloring books are available to help children comprehend what will happen when they undergo the surgical procedure; a little knowledge can ease a great deal of anxiety"

While she spoke, Stinky downloaded another fun page for them to work on from HERE.  He also found some more HERE and downloaded this one to color together.

Periwinkle continued with ideas on how to celebrate National Coloring Book Day "Have A Coloring-Book Celebration., Gather your Favorite Coloring Materials and Fill the Room with Inspiration, Post Pictures of Your Vibrant Creations On Social Media! Set Aside Some “Me” Time to Color."

The two tabbies spent time coloring (and trying not to get the colors on their furs) when Stinky suddenly said "Periwinkle, why don't we try to make a coloring page or two for our friends?"  Periwinkle thought that was a great idea and they searched the internet until they found a site that let them create free coloring pages.  First they did their current badge...

Next, they did their original one...

"I hope our friends download these and color them.  It would be great to see them" said Stinky.  Periwinkle agreed.  "It would be fun if our pals did their own pages too.  They can click HERE to use the site we did" added Periwinkle.

Suddenly Stinky started to giggle.  Periwinkle looked at the site he was on and started to giggle too.

"MOL, I hope our Moms find THIS page" said Periwinkle.  They couldn't stop giggling and soon they were rolling on the floor laughing.

Just as they stopped laughing, Stinky started again.  "You should order this one for your Mom since you live on the Space Coast."  Once again Periwinkle was giggling.

All that giggling and laughing made them hungry so they headed to the pool deck for their usual snack...

Before it was time for Stinky to leave, Periwinkle showed him a fun page her Mom saw on Facebook. You can click HERE to see it too.

They spent some time whisker kissing and paw patting and visiting with Periwinkle's fursibs and then it was time for Stinky to head home.  He stepped into the Teleportation Tunnel, blew one last whisker kiss to Periwinkle, and headed home.  Periwinkle went back into the dining room to color their own page so she could feel close to Stinky.
