Thankful Thursday

Today we're thankful that we have a good, loving home.  There are many kitties who do not.  Mom was asked to help out as a sub for feeding a group of feral cats near our home.

There are 3 sections in this park where the cats live.  Because it is near the beach, there has been a lot of controversy about feeding the cats.   There was a group that wanted to stop the feeding and either euthanize them or let them starve.  Fortunately, that was halted but the cats still need help.  Many of them appear to be housecats that have been dumped here.  If you look closely, you can see the notched ears on quite a few of them which means they have been caught, neutered and released.  It was sad to see them and most of them were very friendly to Mom.  We think they knew that she was there to help.

Here's a slideshow that she put together of the kitties she saw that day.  Please purr and pray that they stay safe.

We are thankful for many things this year and sweet Raz joining our family is one of them.  Unfortunately, many other kitties don't have forever homes for Thanksgiving.  We got this email from Raz's foster Mom and wanted to share.  We think it would be so nice if Poe and Praline got forever homes!
"I'm hoping that I can find homes for my black cats too, they are much harder to get adopted. . . I have two great lap kittens who just happen to be black - Poe and his sister Praline, they had a very rough start as kittens from a stray that was dumped at the Parrish Park river area in Titusville, I picked them up by playing with them using a toy as they would not go in the trap. . .they were tiny then, the girl was so dehydrated, would not eat so she went to vet and was on an IV for two days, fully recovered and is now very sweet, she has one white whisker!  anyway, they all have stories"
