Shopping around the World and Friendly Fill-ins

Today is Shopping Around the world with our pal Bacon from PigLove
Me and my pal Fozzie will be holding another Shopping Around the World scheduled for   Friday,September 30th.
Do a posting on your blog linking back to mine.  That way we can keep track of all of the different prices and recipes from all over the world.
This month we are highlighting one pot wonders.  This can be one pot over the stove, in the stove or in a crockpot.  What is your one pot wonder?  Something that you ‘go to’ when time is short or you will be working all day and want to come home to a prepared home cooked meal.  Please share and include pictures if possible with prices.  See you here my friends!

Our recipe today is for Five Hour Stew

* Exported from MasterCook *

                             Easy 5 hour stew

Recipe By     :Luciene
Serving Size  : 1     Preparation Time :0:00
Categories    : Meats                           Stews

--------  ------------  --------------------------------

2  lb      lean stew meat   - small cubes
  2      onions -- cut up
  1     cup  celery
  4    potatoes -- cubed
  6   carrots -- sliced
1   slice  white bread -- cubed
1 lb mushrooms, quartered
  2   cans  tomato sauce (8 0z)
  1   cup  water
  1 1/2    teaspoons  salt
     1/8      teaspoon  pepper

Combine all ingredients in casserole.  Cover and bake at 250 degrees for 5 hours.

                                    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Since Mom doesn't eat bread, she uses zucchini in place of the bread, she cuts it in big hunks and just pops it in with the other ingredients.  She doesn't eat potatoes either but Dad does so she leaves them in the stew.   It's delicious.   Oh yes....you can also add some red wine in place of some of the water!

Stew Meat -   $4.99/lb

Onion - .99/lb

Celery - $1.99/ bag

Potatoes -  $1.99/ 5 lb bag

Zucchini - $1.69/lb

8 oz can tomato sauce -.99

The head peep saved this into her recipe folder on the computer. She is looking for crock pot recipes for making multiple meals at once to stock up our grandpeep's freezer, and this looks it would work really well.

Very interesting recipe. Only one serving? Yep, this redneck could eat 2 pounds of meat in one sitting. The Fill-in answers are sweet.
