The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle was so excited because it was Tuesday and she knew Stinky was on his way to her house.  It seemed like forever since the two saw each other.  She put her ear close to the teleportation tunnel and could hear a faint  WOOOSH...and then it got louder and there he was!  Handsome Stinky!  Stinky blinked his eyes and said "Hi Perwinkle!  I don't know if I will ever get used to the speed of the teleportation tunnel!"   Periwinkle ran up to Stinky and gave him a big hug and whisker kisses.  The two stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes just enjoying each other's company.  Stinky asked Periwinkle what she had planned for them and she said "It's Fat Tuesday"  confused and a little hurt, Stinky replied that he really enjoyed his treats but didn't think it was right to call him FAT!  "No silly, you're not fat, you're purrfect!! Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday and it's Mardi Gras!"  Stinky was relieved and listened closely to Periwinkle's plans.  Holding paws, they jumped into the teleportation tunnel to start their adventure at Mardi Gras!

"Our first stop is Cafe du Monde for beignets" said Perwinkle.  She knew Stinky would love the delicious beignets.

While they were enjoying the delicious beignets, Periwinkle told Stinky a little more about Mardi Gras.

"Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday," also called Shrove Tuesday. It is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of Christian Lent season leading up to Easter. During Lent, many Christians fast, and the name Fat Tuesday refers to the last day of eating richer foods before the leaner days of Lent begin

Stinky asked about the beads Periwinkle brought for them to wear and she said
"Traditional Mardi Gras beads are purple, green, and gold colors. The purple symbolizes justice; the green represents faith; and the gold signifies power."

All of a sudden, Periwinkle giggled and leaned over and licked Stinky's nose.  Blushing, Stinky said, "Hey, why did you do that?"  She said he had powdered sugar on his nose and she wanted to clean it off.  The tabbies ordered beignets to go for their Moms and headed out to the crowded streets.  They spotted a balcony and climbed up to get a better view of the parade.

Being adventurous, the two decided to head to the street to see if they could get a ride on one of the floats.

Luckily a float stopped right in front of them and welcomed them on!

Periwinkle and Stinky really enjoyed riding on the float and made friends with the others.  Everything was so much fun and everyone was really nice.  Many had heard of their adventures and said that they were followers of The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky.

Always thinking of others, they bought some souvenir Cafe u Monde keychains for their Moms and some nip toys for their fursibs.

Soon it was time to leave.  Periwinkle and Stinky took a memory photo so they would have something special to remember this fun day with.

They headed to the teleportation tunnel and were quickly back to Periwinkle's house.  They spent some time holding paws and sharing whisker kisses and soon it was time for Stinky to leave.  With one more hug and whisker kiss, Periwinkle walked Stinky over to the tunnel and with a WOOOSH he was on his way home.  Periwinkle held the memory photo close to her heart and shed a tear.  She missed him already.

Stinky’s dad asked his mom last night if the tabbies would be going to Mardi Gras. Of course, she didn’t know. What a fun adventure these two had. They are just so darn cute together. How fun for them to get to ride on a float. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer with love and smooches to Allie from Mau and purrs and paw-pats to Noelle from Sawyer. It makes him so happy that his and Noelle’s alter egos can have so much fun together.

Stinky and Periwinkle we loved your post. New Orleans is a place mom and dad loved. They also went to the Cafe Du Monde and had beignets. Before New Orleans they had never heard of them. They were awesome. They arrived a few days after Mardi Gras and mom collected beads from bushes and tree branches. Thanks to you two she is now looking at the colours to see if they are green or gold.
