Tuesday morning came early for Periwinkle because she couldn't sleep she was so excited that her boyfriend, Stinky, was coming for an adventure. After last week's adventure when he rode off on a pelican, she hoped he would behave this week. Click HERE if you missed that episode.
1) Don’t worry about what other people might be thinking about your board, wet furs, skill level, etc. Focus on surfing: paddling out and catching waves back in.
2) Learn to duck dive before you can even stand up. Being able to duck dive will exponentially increase the number of waves you catch.
3) Surf mostly in the morning and late afternoon. Sunburn isn’t cool and you’ll regret having been sunburnt later in life. Even cats can get sunburn.
4) Catch as many waves as possible. Don’t sit out there waiting for what you might think is the perfect wave – catch everything you can.
5) Don’t be overly timid. Know your place in the line-up, especially as a beginner, but don’t go surfing and catch no waves. Periwinkle was pretty sure Stinky would NEVER be too timid.
6) Smile and be friendly in the line-up. Everybody agreed that Periwinkle and Stinky were always friendly.
7) Don’t take surfing too seriously. Periwinkle and Stinky both agreed they didn't take things too serioiusly.
8) Stretch. Something cats are very good at!
9) Surf with friends. Happiness shared is happiness multiplied. Both tabbies agreed that sharing happiness was important which is why they loved their adventures.
Once they had the guidelines, they were ready to start. They followed the signs to the beach...
After a few tries, they were both surfing. Being cats and having great balance certainly helped them learn so quickly.
After a while, Stinky got tired and they decided to join Periwinkle on the beach.
They walked down the street a bit and Periwinkle showed him where they were going next. "Oh wow, I've heard of Ron Jon's but never thought we would come here" said Stinky.
Periwinkle said she thought it would be nice of them to stop in the store and buy something for their Moms.
After they walked through the whole store, they picked out t-shirts that they thought their Moms would like.
They purchased them and headed outside. In typical Stinky fashion, he handed Periwinkle his bag and ran off. Next thing she knew he had climbed to the top of one of the large sand sculptures.
"Stinky, come down! You promised you would behave!" said Periwinkle. Stinky climbed down and apologized. He gave Periwinkle a kiss on the cheek and said he was sorry and Periwinkle knew she had to forgive him. He was such a sweet guy.
They took a selfie in front of one of the other sand sculptures before getting into the Teleportation Tunnel to head back to Periwinkle's house.

YOu two tickled me. Not easy to do always. And I wish I had been in Cocoa Beach with you.
Oh my goodness! Learning to surf - that's a BIG WOW. I'm not sure I would be comfy getting all that wet but I'm impressed that Periwinkle and Stinky were real "water cats". Love the t-shirts they got for the Moms. What a great adventure.
Hugs, Teddy
