The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Tuesday mornings were always exciting for Periwinkle since that is the day she has an Adventure with her boyfriend, Stinky.  This week Stinky was coming to her house and she hoped he wouldn't think their Adventure was boring.

The Teleportation Tunnel rumbled and with a loud WOOSH, out flew Stinky.  Periwinkle ran up to him and they spent time whisker kissing, paw patting and giggling.  They always had such fun when they were together.   Finally Stinky asked what they were doing for their Adventure.

"I hope you don't mind, but we're mostly staying right here today.  It's super hot out and I thought an Adventure in the cool A/C would be good."   Stinky tried to hide his disappointment but knew that any time together was fun.

"Today is National Book Lovers Day and I thought we might share some cool books that either have cats as the main characters or are about cats" said Periwinkle.  Both tabbies agreed that would be nice.  Their fursibs Cooper Murphy and Raz both belong to the Cat Scouts Book Club and have read lots of great cat books.

Periwinkle explained "Book Lovers Day is celebrated on August 9 every year. This is an unofficial holiday observed to encourage bibliophiles to celebrate reading and literature. People are advised to put away their smartphones and every possible technological distraction and pick up a book to read. Book Lovers Day is widely recognized on a global scale yet its origin and creator remain unknown to date."  Stinky asked if it was okay to read a book on a tablet or other device like a Kindle. Periwinkle replied, "Of course, even though the day is to encourage real books, some peeps like to read their books on their electronic devices but at least they are reading!"
Perwinkle and Stinky both talked about their brofurs Raz and Cooper Murphy and the Cat Scouts Book Club a little more.  Raz joined them to show them how to navigate the Book Club part of Cat Scouts.

The Tabbies were impressed by how many good books about cats the Scouts read.

"This month they are reading the #2 Feline Detective Agency and they have read They Call Me Destiny and Destiny's children which are part of the Destiny Trilogy.

"Of course, there are lots of old favorites too.  The Cat Who books are still very popular as well as the Midnight Louie books.  Mom has a bunch of these" said Periwinkle.  She laughed when her fursib Reesie jumped up to show part of her Mom's collection.

Always frugal so they can save green papers for Treats, the two teleported over to the library to see the collection of books there.

Paw in paw, they walked through the aisles and found lots of great cat books.  They both agreed that anybody can read all different kinds of books even if they don't have a lot of money to spend.  Finding books at the library or at book swaps is a great way to get new books.

Stinky mentioned that a lot of their blogging friends write cat-themed books like Miss Ellen from 15 And Meowing.  Some of their blogging kitty friends have books too like Summer's sister Sparkle who wrote Dear Sparkle.

Another favorite that was a Cat Scouts Book was A Street Cat Named Bob.  Both tabbies talked about the series and how Bob saved his owner from a life of homelessness and drugs.

For younger readers, there are fun books like Cat's Cookbook.   There are also fun books like The Cat Lovers Cookbook with Kitty Pizza, Tuna Cakes, and Meowshi Sushi--for both cats and cat owners.

Talking about food made them both hungry and ready for a snack so they headed to the pool deck to enjoy a snack.

Soon it was time for Stinky to head home. They spent some time snuggling and whisker kissing.  When Stinky got ready to enter the Teleportation Tunnel, Periwinkle said  "I hope you weren't disappointed by our Adventure today."  Stinky assured her he was not.  He loved being with her and, as he said, they found a lot of great books.  "I know our Moms both love reading Cat themed books" said Stinky.

With a whisker kiss and a wave, he entered the Teleportation Tunnel and headed home.  Periwinkle went to find Reesie and Raz and thank them for their help with their Adventure and then found a comfy spot to curl up and take a nap and dream about her boyfriend.

Wow, going to the library used to be a highlight in each week, for petcretary when she was young; And poring over books, mostly science books and geography at her Aunt's place, she was a teacher.

We think that was a great adventure, and you didn't even get hot!

Our mom loves reading, as did her mom. She’s read lots of good cat books both through Scouts and on her own. For those with tablets, there are always lots of free books from Kindle and Apple Books. Thanks, Periwinkle, for getting Stinky interested in reading. It is a wonderful pastime, especially on hot summer days and cold winter days. We are happy you two can always find something fun to do together. Reading is a very good thing. We have stacks of books to read, then give away and two large bookcases filled with books.

I always enjoy your weekly adventures.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to the kitties and my best to your mom. ♥

Now that was a special adventure - reading is a wonderful way to learn about EVERYTHING and you can visit anywhere, meet anyone, do anything if you just read a book. If my Mom was a "nite person" she would have joined the Scouts Book Club but she does read.....and she HAS written three books.

Hugs, Teddy

My brother and I went to the library a few times a week growing up. It was my favorite place in college. I love to read. My Mom and grandmother also liked to read.
I did read Pam's book (from Pam and Teddy - they commented earlier) and I highly recommend her book!
Thanks for taking us along!!!
