The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle sat patiently by the Teleportation Tunnel waiting for her handsome boyfriend, Stinky to arrive.  She did some extra grooming to her paws while she waited and then, with a loud WOOSH, he arrived and tumbled right into her waiting paws.  "Wow, Periwinkle, your paws are so beautiful," said Stinky.  Periwinkle thanked him and was so happy she took the time to make them extra pretty.  They spent some time whisker kissing, paw patting and catching up on the last week.  Stinky reminded her that they were still having the birthday comment-a-thon on their blog and anyone who did not already comment could click HERE to comment by midnight on Thursday.  "My Mom is going to donate $1 for every comment to the rescue or charity of the winner's choice," said Stinky.  They both agreed that it would be wonderful to get lots of comments and they hoped their followers would join in and comment.

After a bit, Stinky asked what they were doing for today's Adventure.  "We have a couple of different things today.  First, today is National Love Your Pet Day.  We know how much we love each other and I thought it would be good to show our friends different ways they could love their pets" said Periwinkle.  Stinky thought that was a great idea.
Perwinkle explained more about Love Your Pet Day. " On February 20th, pet lovers everywhere observe National Love Your Pet Day. This holiday focuses on giving extra attention to pets. The day encourages pampering pets and focusing on the special relationship pets hold in their human's lives.

Did you know that most households in the United States have at least one pet? While there are more cats than dogs in the United States, more households have dogs than cats, but not by much. Pets are not limited to the canine and feline categories. There are quite a few who prefer the companionship of birds, reptiles, fish, or rats. Whoever the pet companion is, this is the day to enjoy spending a little extra time with them on National Love Your Pet Day and reap the benefits for both pets and humans, as well such as stress relief and lower blood pressure."   Stinky was impurressed with Periwinkle's knowledge of this day.  They both decide to share ways to celebrate National Love Your Pet Day.

Stinky went first (which didn't surprise Periwinkle because it involved climbing)  "Make sure your pet has a cool place to scratch and to climb that will be safe and not damage anything"

"Spoil your pet with lots of toys" said Periwinkle.  "Play their favorite game or bring out their best toy.  It's also a good idea to inspect their toys to make sure they are in good shape and throw out any broken toys"

"Here's another good idea" said Stinky. "Wash their bedding so it's nice and fluffy!"

Periwinkle added that getting something new and fun like this cool nip mat her Mom recently got them would be nice.

Both tabbies said "Give them a special treat" at the same time and giggled.  Raz was going to show the treats when they caught him trying to eat them all. "RAZ, stop it!  Those are for all of us" they both said.

"Having cool places to hide and are also functional (like scratchers) are nice to have around" said Periwinkle.  Her fursib Reesie came out to demonstrate...
Stinky added that it's nice to spend time together watching a video or playing with a teaser or other interactive toy.  Periwinkle agreed that time spent with Moms (and Dads) is always special.

Of course, they both had to admit that regular VET checkups also show love.

"One more thing" said Stinky.  "If you don't have a pet, it would be great to adopt one to love!  Periwinkle told him that was an excellent idea.  She was always so happy when her boyfriend was so thoughtful and kind.

"That's not all we have today" said Periwinkle.  This Thursday is the first day of Fall or the Autumnal Equinox.  The days will now get shorter until the Winter Solstice when they start getting longer.  For us here in Florida, that really doesn't mean a lot other than our A/C won't run as much and our electric bill goes down.  We hope Mom uses those extra green papers to buy more TREATS (and to hide them so Raz doesn't get them all)."   Stinky laughed at that but, again, was impurressed by his girlfriend's knowledge.  Polite Mancat that he was, he complimented Periwinkle on her Mom's fall decorations.

Both tabbies were hungry so they decided to go out back for a snack by the pool.

"We have one more thing I would like to do before you have to go home.  Today is the 10th anniversary of my fursib Tamir going to the Bridge.  I never knew him but Mom misses him a lot.  She made this slideshow when he went OTB and shares it every year.  I hope you will watch it with me and that our friends will too since I know there are some who never knew him."  Stinky agreed and reached for her paw as they both watched the slideshow.

When they finished, they spent some more time whisker kissing and paw patting.   It was soon time for Stinky to go home.  He hopped into the Teleportation Tunnel and, with a WOOSH, he was on his way home.  Periwinkle decided to find her Mom to snuggle with her since she knew the anniversary of Tamir's leaving made her sad.

A precious video of a truly adorable guy - Mr. Tamir! P&S had a special "date" today with lots of important ideas and suggestions for showing your pet you love them. We always think about all the animals waiting in shelters to go to a HOME and have someone love them forever.

Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

Awww, you two really do have a fab life. Time tunnel travelling sounds the best, especially if there are treats to be had, and time beside the pool.

What a terrific adventure for Love Your Pet Day and the anniversary of Tamir getting his wings. He sure was handsome. Raleigh has about the same color fur as Tamir. We cannot believe Mom remembered in was Teaser Day and then forgot about Periwinkle & Stinky. Her brain is mush! Sawyer sends his lovely Noelle whisker kisses, purrs and love. And Stinky sends the same to Periwinkle along with thanks for another great time together. A wonderful day to love your pet. We did all these things for our Angel Little Bit. We worried about her comfort more than ours. Great adventure.

That's a perfect tribute to Tamir. Loving your pets well is a tribute to all of our animals on both sides of that bridge.

There were a lot of pets being loved so much where petcretary went today...they didn't have to stay home alone while their peeps went shopping at the big outdoor flea market we went to. However us pups stayed home...but pawppy was there with us all day long!

Tamir's video was a wonderful tribute.
