The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle excitedly waited by the Teleportation Tunnel.  She couldn't wait to see her handsome boyfriend, Stinky.  Suddenly, the Tunnel shook and, with a WOOSH, out popped Stinky right into her waiting paws.  As soon as she saw him she said "ava'yorn stinky, aldoer ekess hesi visek" which made Stinky wonder what was going on.  Puzzled, he asked if she was okay.  Periwinkle giggled and told him that today was Appreciate a Dragon Day and she was speaking Dragonese.

"I know you did your research, so tell me more about this day" said Stinky.  Smiling Periwinkle said "The word ‘dragon’ first entered the English language in the early 13th century from Old French dragon, which in turn comes from Latin’s ‘draconem,’ meaning ‘a serpent of huge size.’
Dragons have always been a part of world history, with the first depiction of dragons being as far back as 4500 B.C. during the times of the Romans and Egyptians. Since then, dragons and dragon motifs have featured in many works of modern literature, particularly within the fantasy genre."

"Let's check out some dragons" said Stinky.  Using the Tunnel, they put "Find Dragons" in the GPS and traveled around to find some dragons.  Of course, Stinky found a couple to climb on...

As they traveled around looking for dragons, Periwinkle told him more about them. "In some cultures, dragons hold a deep and vital meaning; while some are symbols of protection, others represent danger. Interestingly, dragons don’t breathe fire or even have wings in some beliefs! Their sizes and shapes are as diverse as the dinosaurs that once ruled our planet.

During the Renaissance, many across Europe imagined dragons were large beasts with wings, spiny tales, and of course, fire breathing. However, some thought dragons looked more like the Hydra in societies like ancient Greece."

They both loved the lighted dragon...
Heading back to Periwinkle's house, they talked about ways to celebrate.   She printed out some coloring pages for them (you can print them out too if you click HERE!)

She also showed Stinky some charts that explained more about the different types of dragons...

They giggled again when they found their dragon names...

Stinky and Periwinkle both laughed at their names which was Robust Heart The Elder for Stinky and Periwinkle's was Miniature Eyes The Trickster.

They also used Firefly AI to create some dragon pictures.  They put in the prompt friendly dragon at the beach since Periwinkle lives near the beach.

The tabbies agreed that watching How To Train Your Dragon would be another fun thing to do but they knew Stinky couldn't stay that long so they decided to watch it another day.  They did find a list of other cool dragon movies to watch.  (click HERE if you would like to see the list)

They took a quick nap in a dragon bed that Periwinkle found...

and they shared a snack of Fancy Feast...

Soon it was time for Stinky to head home.  In unison they said "yth charis wux liked hesi visek" which means "we hope you liked our Adventure" and then Stinky hopped back into the Teleportation Tunnel to head home.

Wow, Stinky said that was one of the coolest adventures ever. He loved the charts, their dragon names, a little climbing fun and, of course, spending time with Periwinkle. Learning a new language is super fun, but unfortunately neither the link to the translator nor the link to the dragon movies is working. Sawyer sends Noelle paw hugs and love. Adorable and it brought back such fun memories of when my daughter was about 3. She loved the song Puff the Magic Dragon. She had read along books on cassette tape. It dinked when time to turn the pages Puff was her favorite.

Now that was a very fun adventure! Didn't know there even was a Dragon Day - except Mom says when she lived in Taiwan she was a LOT of dragons- the local community celebrated a lot of holidays and there were always a few in dragon costumes. Wheeee!
