The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle sat by the Teleportation Tunnel waiting for her boyfriend, Stinky, to arrive.  She hoped he wasn't disappointed in the weather since there was a cold front that made it cooler than regular Florida weather.

Suddenly, the Tunnel shook and with a WOOSH, out popped Stinky right into her waiting paws.  Of course, they spent time whisker kissing and paw patting and catching up on the events of the previous week.  Finally, Periwinkle said they needed to hop into her Mom's car to head to a local park for their Adventure.

They quickly arrived at the park and Stinky saw the sign that explained why they were there...

Stinky got all excited and jumped up and down asking if they were going to get giant turkey legs...

Periwinkle rolled her eyes and told him there was more to the Fair than turkey legs and that the only turkey they should be having is Fancy Feast!  Stinky frowned but agreed that they probably were smart to stick with noms they were familiar with.

As they walked through the park, Periwinkle explained more about Renaissance fairs.  "A Renaissance faire, also known as a Renaissance festival or Renaissance fair, is an event that recreates the culture, entertainment, and atmosphere of the Renaissance period, which spanned roughly from the 14th to the 17th century in Europe. These events typically feature a mix of historical reenactments, theatrical performances, artisan markets, and interactive activities."

As they walked, the came upon the Goat Man.  Stinky ran over to take a photo with him but was cautioned by Periwinkle to watch out for his leg since she always worried Stinky would get hurt.

They also passed by a stage where there were musicians.  When the musicians saw them they asked Periwinkle and Stinky to join them on the stage since everyone who was there knew who they were.

A quick look at the map told them where to find the jousting so they headed there after leaving the musicians.

Periwinkle was happy Stinky didn't try to get into the ring with the jousters but almost immediately had to pull him back when she saw the sword swallowers...

and then again when they passed the fire show...

She shook her head when he darted by her and joined the pirate high wire show!
As soon as he saw her face, Stinky came down and held her paw and behaved for the rest of the afternoon.     They saw sweet animals...

 And a pirate ship...

And a lady dressed like a butterfly with pawsome giant bubbles...

Periwinkle had more information to share..."At a Renaissance fair, attendees often encounter costumed performers portraying characters from the Renaissance era, such as knights, jesters, nobles, and peasants. The fairgrounds may include various themed areas, such as a jousting arena, artisan stalls, food vendors offering period-appropriate fare, and stages for live performances. Visitors are encouraged to dress in Renaissance-inspired costumes, adding to the immersive experience.

The entertainment at a Renaissance fair can include jousting tournaments, stage plays, musical performances, magic shows, and interactive street performances. Artisans and craftsmen may showcase traditional skills such as blacksmithing, pottery, weaving, and woodworking. Visitors can often purchase handmade crafts, jewelry, costumes, and other goods."

They decided to buy mugs for their Moms.

They gasped when they saw the lady with the falcon (Apologizes to the Tabbies for showing a BURD!)

Soon it was time to head back to Periwinkle's house.  They had a snack of Fancy Feast (turkey to make up for not having a turkey leg at the fair), visited Periwinkle's fursibs and her Mom and took some time to snuggle and whisker kiss.

As much as they hated parting, Stinky needed to head home.  He grabbed the mug he got for his mom and, with a parting whisker kiss and a WOOSH, he was on his way home.  Periwinkle found a sunpuddle to nap in and dream about her next visit with Stinky.

Renaissance fairies were super popular in the 70s and our mom is surprised she never attended one. She apologizes for Stinky jumping up into that contraption with the pirate. At least he didn’t get into any other trouble. Thanks for another fun adventure, Periwinkle. Sawyer sends Noelle oodles of whisker kisses and love. Lulu: "Our Dada says they used to go to a Renaissance Faire every year back in New York, up in some place called Sterling! He says they had those kinds of shows and ladies with wings and costumes and falcons and they even used to allow you to bring your dogs! Then there was some kind of an incident with a dog and a falcon and after that, no more dogs allowed."
Java Bean: "Ayyy, somebody always ruins it for the rest of us!"
