The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

The Teleportation Tunnel was nowhere to be seen and Periwinkle was snoozing in a sun puddle.  Why?  Because Stinky had arrived on Friday for an extraordinary Adventure.  Let's go back in time to see what they did.

Periwinkle couldn't wait for Stinky's arrival.  It was rare for them to have their Adventure on a Friday but this was special.  As soon as he arrived, she took him by the paw, entered the coordinates and they headed to their destination.  Stinky gasped when he realized where they were.

Stinky quickly exclaimed, "OMC, we're in Paris!  Are we here for the Olympics?"  Periwinkle smiled and said she hoped he was happy with what she planned.  The two immediately headed out to where the opening ceremonies were being held.  Imagine their surprise when they heard their names!

"Nous avons la chance d’avoir parmi nous les fameux Periwinkle et Stinky ce soir. Merci de leur réserver un accueil chaleureux !"   (Translation: We are fortunate to have the famous Periwinkle and Stinky with us this evening.  Please give them a warm welcome!)  The crowd cheered and off they went to enjoy the festivities.

They joined the crowd on a boat down the Seine...

Periwinkle explained a little about the Paris Olympics..."The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. This will mark the third time Paris has hosted the Summer Olympics, with previous games held in 1900 and 1924. The games will be held across various locations in Paris and other cities in France, including some events at iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées."

After they left the boat, they wandered around and saw these cute mascots. 

Periwinkle said they were Phryge "The official mascot is the "Phryge," inspired by the Phrygian cap, a symbol of freedom in France."  They stopped and took a photo with them before they moved on.

They timed it purrfectly to catch up to the American team.  They were welcomed aboard their boat for the parade of nations.

Knowing how famous the tabbies are, they were invited to participate in the torch relay.  Periwinkle convinced Stinky to do it for them so she could take a photo.

"Wow, that was such an honor," said Stinky.  Periwinkle smiled and was very happy that her boyfriend was so loved.  She hinted that there was more to come which made him wonder what else she had planned. 

Suddenly, Stinky rushed off.  Periwinkle knew what he was doing and hoped he wouldn't get into trouble.

"STINKY!!! Please get down NOW before you get in trouble" she shouted.  Sheepishly, he got down and apologized.  "I can't help myself when I see such great climbing places," he said.  She rolled her eyes and took his paw (hoping to keep him from climbing on anything else) and they continued watching the ceremonies.  Periwinkle said lots of events had already started and added "Around 10,500 athletes representing 206 National Olympic Committees are taking part in the Games.  There are even some medals being awarded already"  She chuckled when she said that which again confused Stinky but he knew she always had a paw on things that were happening.

Periwinkle led Stinky to a special podium and encouraged him to climb on it.  He thought that was odd since she NEVER wanted him to climb but took advantage and hopped up.  All of a sudden he heard an announcement over the loudspeaker.  "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome our Gold Medalist and Olympic champion in Climbing, from the United States, Stinky Blue."  The crowd cheered and Stinky was totally surprised.  He got a little choked up when he heard the National Anthem play and saw Periwinkle beaming at him.

When the medal ceremony was over, he rushed to Periwinkle and gave her a big hug.  "Did you know about this?"  She said she did and that there wasn't anycat who could come close to his abilities so there were no bronze or silver winners. She told him how proud she was but also added that she thought he shouldn't take this as purrmission to do anything dangerous.  Blushing, he agreed to try to behave in the future.

The Opening Ceremony was about to end.  They headed out to see the lighting of the Olympic flame.  Once again, they were treated like honored guests and asked to go up to the area where it was happening.

Immediately they were mesmerized by Celine Dion singing from the Eiffel Tower 

Both tabbies were getting hungry and knew they didn't have much longer until they had to head home so they made a quick stop at a cafe for some Fancy Feast and Temptations.  They were pleasantly surprised to see their favorites on the menu.

After their snack, they entered the Teleportation Tunnel for their trip home.  They were both tired but spent some time whisker kissing and snuggling.  Soon, Stinky entered the Tunnel and, with a whisker kiss, headed home.

Pereiwinkle was tired but went to find her Mom and fursibs to tell them about their wonderful night.
