The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle couldn't wait for Stinky's arrival.  She hoped he would like what she had planned.  She knew that, now that Thanksgiving was over, it was impawtent to behave since Santa would be paying extra attention to what they did.  She hoped Stinky wouldn't climb on anything or do anything to make Santa unhappy.  While she was deep in thought, the Tunnel began to shake and she caught Stinky just in time.  The two spent time paw patting and whisker kissing and remembering the fabulous Pre-Thanksgiving celebration Stinky prepared the previous week.  (If you missed it, click HERE

Soon, Stinky asked what the plan for the day was.  He was pretty sure he had an idea since there were boxes of Christmas decorations everywhere.  He asked, "Are we helping your Mom decorate?"  Periwinkle giggled and said she knew he would figure it out.  The two set right out to work.  Suddenly Stinky gasped and called for Periwinkle.  He shouted out, "Periwinkle, someone broke your Christmas trees."

Periwinkle replied, "Silly boy, those are artificial trees. Mom puts them up early, and real trees don't last very long here in Florida." Stinky sighed with relief, afraid she would think he had broken the trees.

Stinky went to the garage and brought in the box with garlands...

Reesie was snoopervising while they worked...

They opened the box with tree ornaments and started to decorate.  They laughed, sang Christmas carols and whisker kissed while they worked.

Stinky dove into the box with poinsettia plants.  Periwinkle remarked on how handsome he looked and reminded him to caution their friends that these were fake and real ones were deadly to cats.  Stinky agreed that was impawtent.

Stinky jumped up onto the entertainment center and (after rolling her eyes because she knew he couldn't resist) Periwinkle joined him.

"We need to get this decorated with the little houses" said Stinky.  Periwinkle agreed and they started to set things up.

They were pleased with the way it turned out.

The two sat on the loveseat to take a break.

The tabbies also talked about the fact that today was Giving Tuesday and that it would be great to donate to your favorite rescue,

Periwinkle went on to say "Giving Tuesday started in 2012 and is a day where people can either donate, volunteer or help a neighbor.  Even sharing a smile with a stranger is giving". Today, she told him, they were going to share some rescues and shelters that their pals might want to help out.   "There are so many worthy places" said Stinky.  Periwinkle said that she made a list of some of the shelters and rescues that friends who won comment-a-thons had suggested.   "Great idea!" he replied.

"First, let's share the site for our pals at PAWS in CT. Most of you know our friends at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life. Their blog features lots of adoptable kitties. Of course, as Tabby Cats, we have to share Tabby's Place!  You can donate or you can Sponsor a cat waiting for adoption. Alley Cat Allies would be another good choice.  They do a lot to help feral cat colonies. Our buddy Teddy was adopted from Fauquier SPCA.  My brofur Angel Raz came from Space Coast Feline Network."  Stinky agreed there were lots of options.

It was almost time for Stinky to head home so the two decided to have a snack on the deck since the weather was so nice.

After their snack, Stinky spent some time visiting with Periwinkle's fursibs and Mom.  Of course, they took a few minutes to whisker kiss, and paw pat before Stinky had to leave.  Periwinkle reminded him that he needed to behave since Santa was watching.  Stinky promised to do his best.  With a whisker kiss and a WOOSH, he started his journey home.

You two did a wonderful job with decorating the house for the holiday - so many fun things to look at and enjoy for Christmas. Today is the day I'm going to help my Mom and Dad get our house "Christmas-ized" !!

Hugs, Teddy

Fauquier SPCA is Teddy’s alma mater, so that’s a great place for donations, and our Mom always donates to Tabby’s Place and PAWS. Helen Woodward is another good one You kitties were so smart to mind everyone of Giving Tuesday after doing such a splendid job on the decorations. Our house is in total turmoil with decorating happening. Stinky had tons of fun with Periwinkle and was super happy to be in Florida as the temp here was 23 degrees this morning. Sawyer sends Noelle oodles of love. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta & Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh
