The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle was very excited about today's Adventure.  She had plans for an Adventure and something special for when they returned.  She didn't have to wait long for Stinky's arrival since the Teleportation Tunnel started to shake and he popped out with a WOOSH.  They spent time whisker kissing and paw patting and then headed off for their Adventure.

They arrived at a familiar place and Stinky said "I was worried we weren't going to be able to come back here but I am so glad we are finally getting to see manatees!"  Periwinkle knew he would be excited so she tried not to roll her eyes when he jumped onto a large branch to be closer to the manatees.

"Wow, look at them all.  This is sooo cool" he exclaimed.

The two headed over to get a closer look...

Of course, Stinky had to check out the signs...

They both were interested in what is being done to preserve the shoreline...

and what people can do to keep pollution down...

They spotted a Florida Wildlife worker watching some manatees and went over to see what was happening.  She explained that one of the manatees had some fungus on it and they were monitoring it.

Periwinkle told Stinky that there had recently been a baby manatee rescue.  (You can read about it HERE.)

The tabbies spent some time walking around paw-in-paw and watching the manatees.  Soon Periwinkle told Stinky they had to go back to her house for the second part of their Adventure.  Always wanting to please her, he quickly followed.

When they got to Periwinkle's house they both shyly said they would be right back.  They giggled when they saw that they both had the same idea and had changed into their Valentine's outfits.
Perwinkle said, "I was hoping you would bring your Valentine's bow tie and glasses."  Stinky blushed and said he hoped they would do something special since they would not be together on Valentine's Day.

Periwinkle's Mom had set the table for them to have a special lunch which they leisurely enjoyed and talked about their future.  They talked about their cottage and discussed some options for their wedding.

After lunch, they handed each other notes.  They both read them and then hugged and whisker kissed.

After they read their notes, they spent time whisker kissing and paw patting. Soon it was time for Stinky to leave.  He thanked Periwinkle's Mom for the nice lunch,  hopped into the Teleportation Tunnel, blew one last whisker kiss, and headed home.

Periwinkle went off to find her fursibs and tell them about seeing the manatees and her fun time with Stinky.

We hope that manatee and likely others will get well and that those cold -temps won't happen anytime soon. Saving the shorelines is a good ting for wildlife.
What fun Valentine's costumes you have!

Manatees are just so precious and I am so thankful they have lots of loving fans in FLorida.
In December one was found in the water up here. The staff and faculty at Center for Marine Science and Technology (CMAST) (my daughter works there but not a scientist) called in an expert from Florida to help them with rescue and transport.
If you saw my post about behind the scenes tour of the Aquarium the lady who gave us the tour was one of the rescuers)

Last they heard it was doing very well.
Stinky and Periwinkle you are both very poetic.
Hugs Cecilia

We loved that you visited the manatees again this year - I'm glad they have a place where they can "winter" - hope the one with fungus will be OK. So happy the baby was rescued too!! As for Valentine's Day - our loving duo are planning their wedding which is VERY exciting. We hope EVERYONE has a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!!
