The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle paced back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel.  Even though it had been only a week since she saw Stinky, it felt like forever to her.  She couldn't wait to see him!  Eventually, the Tunnel started to shake and, with a WOOSH, Stinky flew out and landed right in her waiting paws.  "I'm glad to see you didn't do any acrobatics this week," said Periwinkle.  Stinky laughed and said he didn't want to upset her by doing something silly.  Knowing that he most likely will before he heads home, she just sighed and hugged him. He hugged her back, and they spent some time whisker-kissing and paw-patting.  They shared how they spent their Easter and asked about each other's families.  Periwinkle told Stinky that she and her fursibs helped her Mom color eggs...

She also said the Easter bunny must not have seen when they misbehaved because they got a pawsome basket filled with Churus, and she asked him to thank his Mom for the pawsome Easter card she and her Mom and fursibs received.

Stinky told her that he and his fursibs got a new cat tree last week, and it is pawsome!  Both agreed that new cat trees are fun.  Of course, he couldn't wait to find out what she had planned, and she was eager to tell him.  "Today is National No Housework Day, and I thought we should make sure our Moms don't do anything (other than serve our every whim!)  I even made a badge for it.  We cats know to take a break, but our Moms sometimes don't, so let's be sure they take the day off from housework!"

No window cleaning, dishwashing or general cleaning (except our litter boxes!)

No Laundry!

No floor cleaning (even if it is a robot!)

Stinky added, "I know of something else coming up on Saturday that we can celebrate, too.  National Catch and Release Day.  It was originally created for fish, but I know we have all caught some critters and, either voluntarily or not, released them."
Periwinkle said, "Well, you know my sisfur Noelle is really good at catching lizards and, as often as possible, Mom ruins her fun by catching them and releasing them outside.  Here are two who made it outside to live another day!"

Stinky remembered a time a frog found its way into the "Danger Zone" near Periwinkle's house and was carefully guided outside.

Periwinkle told Stinky that one time an opossum got caught in a trap in her yard, and a friend of her Mom's came and released him in the woods.

Periwinkle said, "Angel Raz was good at Catch and Release, too.  He loved playing with his mousies and, sometimes, released them into the water bowl so they could have a drink."

Periwinkle told Stinky how proud she was that he didn't climb on anything or misbehave at all.  He blushed and thanked her.  He took her by the paw, and they headed to a comfy spot where they whisker-kissed and paw patted until they fell asleep.  When they woke up, they got their own snack, so Periwinkle's Mom didn't have to do anything, and went to the backyard.

After some more whisker-kisses and paw pats and saying "I love you" to each other, Stinky hopped back into the Teleportation Tunnel and headed home.  Periwinkle went out to the table, cleaned up from their snack, and then took a long snooze in a sun puddle, dreaming of their next Adventure.

this is a wonderful story and I love the if you catch it let it go, Beau brought me a baby possum once. he carried it light as a feather and put it at my feet and it played dead, until I picked it up by its tail to take it out of our yard, then he came alive. we never harm the critters in our yard

No Housework Day is a day my Mom would REALLY enjoy celebrating! She says old people like her and my Dad shouldn't be living in a three story house - too much work! HAHA I try to help but moving my mouse toy from one hiding spot to another isn't enough help (she says). This was a great adventure for our two sweethearts to enjoy.

Hugs, Teddy and Mom Pam

Charlee: "A basket full of Churus! Nice! I guess the Easter Bunny hasn't cultivated quite the same level of spy network as Santa."
Chaplin: "I am pretty sure that almost every day is no-housework day here ..."
Oona: "A lizard got into the house here once. It did not end well. FOR THE LIZARD."

Once a year, the housework can wait. In fact, eat out or have take out and use paper plates!

As for catch and release, I even release the spiders around here!

We did visit yesterday, but Mom got interrupted when trying to comment for us. We love Stinky with the frog … to cute. MacKenzie brought a possum home with him once and stood at the back door with it asking if they could come in. We once released Santa into the water fountain. And we always enjoy seeing Raz. Angel Sawyer sends all his love to Noelle. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid & Sawyer, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Kizmet, Audrey, Raleigh, Gibbs & Tali
