The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

It was Tuesday and Periwinkle could hardly contain her excitement.....Stinky was on his way!!  She could feel the vibration of the teleportation tunnel and knew it was only a matter of a few seconds till he arrived.   WHOOOOSH....Stinky came tumbling out of the tunnel and crashed into Periwinkle.  They both laughed and hugged each other and shared whisker kisses.  As always, Periwinkle was overwhelmed by the handsomeness of her special ManCat.

"What are we up to today?" asked Stinky.  "Thank COD we cats don't have to practice Social Distancing."  Periwinkle told him that they were going to the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.  It was not too far from her house and the trip in the teleportation tunnel would only take a minute or two.

Periwinkle and Stinky got into the tunnel and off they went.

The two tabbies headed off to see what kind of cool wildlife they could find.  All of a sudden Stinky tugged on Periwinkle's paw and said "WHOA....what is that beautiful bird?  I've never seen one like that at home."  Periwinkle explained that it was a Roseate Spoonbill.  She pulled out her Mom's cellphone and read this to Stinky.
Roseate Spoonbills are pale pink birds with brighter pink shoulders and rump. They have a white neck and a partially feathered, yellowish green head from which their red eyes shine. Juveniles are paler pink and have a completely feathered head for 3 years until they attain adult breeding plumage

Stinky was impurressed!   Next they saw a pretty Belted Kingfisher.  Both Periwinkle and Stinky were in awe of the beautiful colors.

They went a little farther and were excited to see a family of ducks in the water.  It was cool how Mom and Dad were watching over their babies.

And they saw them come out of the water and follow Mom onto land.

All of a sudden, Periwinkle shouted: "YIKES, let's get out of here!!"  Stinky turned around and saw a big Alligator sunning himself at the shoreline.

"Let's go look at more birds, that guy is Scary" said Periwinkle.  Stinky agreed and headed to the lookout to see what other wildlife he could spot.

"Periwinkle, I am not seeing much going on right now, why don't we head back to the Visitors Center and check out the gift shop."  Always ready for shopping, Periwinkle agreed!  Before they went in, they took a memory photo.

"There's lots of nice stuff here" said Stinky.  "Lets pick up a few things for our Moms and fursibs."  Periwinkle thought that was a good idea.  It was also nice and cool in the air conditioning.

Knowing that it was almost time for them to leave, Periwinkle and Stinky stopped at a picnic table and enjoyed the Fancy Feast snack they brought with them.

After cleaning up, they hopped back into the teleportation tunnel and headed back to Periwinkle's house.  Knowing that their fun day was coming to an end, the two tabbies held paws and shared whisker kisses.  Soon it was time for Stinky to head home.  One more hug and whisker kiss and he got into the tunnel, blowing kisses to Periwinkle.  WHOOOSH....and he was gone.  Periwinkle was glad they could have a fun day but was so sad it was over.  Once again, she wiped away tears from her eyes and started counting off the days till their next adventure.

Sunday Selfies

We're pawticipating in The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies today.

Mom and her friend went to the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge on Friday.  They saw lots of great BirdTV and this guy.  He swam over near their car and asked to take a selfie.

We think he did okay for a beginner.

Today is Father's Day which is a sad day for us since our Daddy is in Heaven.  We're sharing favorite selfies that Daddy took with Allie and Raz.  Noelle never knew Daddy but we know he sent her to us.

Happy Father's Day in Heaven to our Daddy and Happy Father's Day to all the other Daddies whether cat Daddies or human ones!

Thankful Thursday

Today we're thankful that we live in a place where there are so many really tasty  pretty birds and other kinds of cool wildlife (some that might think WE are tasty).

Mom and Dad went to visit the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge last week.  Today we're sharing the pictures that Dad put into a slideshow.  Isn't the cover picture great?  Dad caught all the tasty pretty birds as they took flight

Remember our pal Nick who went to the Bridge on Monday?  There is a GoFundMe account
set up in his memory to help fund feline cancer research.  Even if you didn't know Nick, many of us have lost furbabies to cancer.  There is very little research being done on cats.  Most of the research is done on canine cancer.   Please, if you can, donate to Nick's fund.  Even a dollar helps!
