Poetic Thankful Thursday "D"

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats

Today's letter is "D" and the prompt words are

(1) Danger  (2) Dandelion  (3) Dark  (4) Dinner

We know it would be Dangerous to eat Dandelions for Dinner in the Dark....but that's not what our poem is!   Our poem is titled

DINNER

DINNER is our favorite time
We love our noms, they're very fine.
Our Mom makes sure we get our DINNER.
In that respect, she is a winner.
We never miss a chance for DINNER
We don't want to get thinner!

Today is also Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

We're very THANKFUL for our friend Ann from Zoolatry.  Not only did she create our wonderful new header and footer for our blog, but she's also done a fabulous Badge and sidebar badge for our Dad.

Dad just finished his first week of his new pills to fight his cancer.  He will start his second week today and is taking two pills this week. Next week he takes three and then, if possible, he will move to 4 a week if he can tolerate it.  The specialist told him that most people do not take 4/day and that 3/day will be effective.   Please keep him in your prayers that he can tolerate the medicine with few but manageable side effects and that the medicine is effective in fighting his cancer.

We're also THANKFUL for all our pals who commented on our comment-a-thon for our Blogoversary.   If you haven't commented, you have until Sunday to try for a chance to win a donation to the shelter of YOUR choice.  Click HERE to comment.

Thanks to Angel Sammy and Teddy for their blogoversary card!

Sunday Selfies and the Traveling Bikini and purrs and prayers request.

We're pawticipating in  The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies today.

We are also pawticipating in the Kittyhood of the Traveling Bikini 2015 sponsored by our pals at 15 and Meowing.

Mom tried to get Raz to wear it but he took off too fast for her to grab him.  Allie, on the other paw, decided that she would do some selfies in the bikini (Mauricio....you might want to sit down when you see them)

 Oh darn.....I turned.....

Sheesh....now I closed my eyes.......

Finally!  What do you think?  Do I look good in the bikini???

We'll be sending the bikini on to the next pawticipant.  Annie of  Lucy's Lounge.  If you are interested in having the bikini visit you, please let us know and we'll add you to the list before it goes out.

We also want to ask you all for purrs and prayers for our Dad.  He has been diagnosed with a very rare cancer on his nose.  He will be having surgery, radiation and then reconstruction of his nose.  It's very scary but the doctor says this is a curable cancer.  Poor Dad has been through so much this year...we want him over this and totally healthy again.  The POTP is awsome and we know your purrs and prayers will help us get through this.

Many thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for this wonderful graphic.

The Highland Games

Today Blogville is celebrating the Highland Games in a Celebration of Kyla of KylaScott.  Kyla has been diagnosed with melanoma and this is a celebration just for her.  Kyla doesn't know when she'll be making the trip to the Bridge but Blogville wanted to bring some smiles to her and her family.

Here's a list of the participating blogs that was posted on Mollie and Alfie's blog: Highland Games

We're participating in a few of the events.....how do we look in our tartans?

Allie chose a simple (?) hairbow...

Always the diva, Ellie went all out with a spectacular tartan dress...

Raz decided on a nice, warm tartan scarf...

Cubby chose a pawsome looking tartan bow tie.

We LiveStrong today

Today we turn our blog yellow to join our pals throughout the blogosphere who are participating in the 3rd annual LiveStrong Day.  Our Pals Milo and Alfie and the Zoolatry girls first posted about this day and you can read more about it HERE.  We've seen way too much cancer over the last year and we are purring and praying for a world without cancer.

We celebrate Auntie El who has been through a rough time in the last year.  Auntie El has just started chemo again in her fight against this terrible disease.  We're purring and praying that the treatments go well and that she is healthy and strong again soon.   Auntie El LivesStrong every day!  She had Chemo yesterday and did well....now we purr and pray that her blood levels stay good and that she doesn't end up in the hospital again.

On September 21, 2010  we lost our sweet sisfur Sniffie to cancer.  We miss her very much and hope that she and our pal Sweet Praline and Little Beignet (who also went to the Bridge because of cancer) and our furriends  Parker Pie  and  sweet Sadie from Beaded Tail are having a good time together at the Bridge.  Poppy Vic from Zoolatry also was taken from us by cancer.  We purr and pray every day for the Zoolatry family at this sad time.

If you would like to see the official LiveStrong slideshow visit the LiveStrong blog.  Many thanks to Mom Chandra from Life from a Cat's Perspective for doing the slideshow.

Meet Benji

Auntie El started her chemo on Monday.  While she was there this cute guy showed up.  His name is Benji and he's a therapy dog that comes to the Cancer Care Center of Brevard every month.

Benji is very well behaved......

He's a little camera shy....

but he was very happy to get treats from Auntie El!

Thanks for all the continued purrs and prayers for Auntie El.  We really hate cancer.

Pillars of Strength - a Special Day for K and Valentines Day

Today many of us in the Blogosphere are supporting a great woofie who is going through the challenges of chemotherapy. K is a very special dog belonging to KB, a blogger who does amazing work chronicling her life in the Rocky Mountains. KB posts videos and pictures of bears, mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, elk, etc., etc., and some of the most amazing mountain views we have ever had the pleasure of seeing. If you have never found her blog, we strongly recommend going - http://romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com/

As we know from Sniffie's cancer, the treatment options for animals are not as varied as for humans. There has been more research for canine cancer than for feline, but there is a long way to go. We know how hard it is for humans and our woofie and kitty friends go through the same difficult process during treatment. We know how hard it was for us to know if we were doing the right thing for Sniffie since she couldn't tell us how she felt. Please go visit KB's blog and show your support.

We also want to wish all of our friends a Happy Valentines Day. The love and support the CB shows everyone (a great example is today's Pillars of Strength) means so much to us. We love you all!

We Livestrong Together Today

Today we are turning our blog yellow along with many of our pals to promote cancer Awareness. Our Pals Milo and Alfie were the organizers of this day for the Cat Blogosphere. Here is what they say:

"Cat (and Dog) Bloggers around the World are working together to promote LiveStrong by going YELLOW on their blogs on October 2nd 2010. All bloggers are invited to join in! Our message is FOCUS, NEVER give up HOPE, Have a FIGHTING attitude, have COURAGE and know we ALL SUPPORT you. LIVESTRONG! We believe in the POWER of the PURR! Love Milo and Alfie xx =^..^= =^..^= "

We HATE cancer. Our wonderful sisfur Sniffie had cancer. When we started this post we were using this pretty picture that our friend Ann from Zoolatry made for us. The Zoolatry Dad has been fighting cancer and Milo and Alfie's Mom and Dad have both suffered from this awful disease.

Unfortunately, our Sweet Sniffie left us for the Bridge on Tuesday, Sept 21. She is now an Angel at the Rainbow Bridge. We miss her so much.

What really upsets Mom is that there is so little research being done for FELINE cancer. Yes, there are many research facilities doing work on cancer for animals but most of it is for dogs. Cats have different kinds of cancer and we need more research facilities that are working specifically for our types of cancers. Mom will post more about this when we do our memorial post for Sniffie.
We need to find a cure for this terrible disease before more of our friends and family members are affected.

Our friends Samantha and Clementine and their Mom Chandra have put together this amazing slideshow. Click on the slideshow to see many of our pals who are participating.

There are many more Livestrong posts today. Please visit the We Livestrong Today blog to see them. Also don't forget to stop at the Cats of Wildcat Woods to add your link.
