The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle woke up early that morning because she knew it was Tuesday and her special guy, Stinky, would be coming to her house for an adventure.  She was so excited to see him.  She really liked him a lot and missed him so much between adventures.

All of a sudden she heard a loud WOOOSH from the Teleportation Tunnel and there he was in the furs! They flew into each others paws and shared whisker kisses and paw pats.

"What's the plan for today?" asked Stinky.  "We're going to teleport to a cool place to celebrate Sesame Street Day" replied Periwinkle.  She then told him the history of Sesame Street Day.

"Sesame Street has been a fan favorite for the last 40 years. Besides Elmo, Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch are just a few of the favorite characters of the show who are loved by children everywhere! The day was first established in 2009 to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of its original broadcast. While it started in New York, the day has quickly grown and is celebrated throughout the world.

When is Sesame Street Day?

November 10th. The date the show first aired.

Sesame Street Day Trivia/Facts:

  • An American educational children’s television series that combines live action, sketch comedy, animation and puppetry
  • The first show aired on November 10, 1969
  • As of the show’s 50th anniversary in 2019, Sesame Street has produced over 4,500 episodes, 35 TV specials, 200 home videos, and 180 albums.
  • Its YouTube channel has almost 5 million subscribers
  • Elmo is supposed to be a three year old child and refers to himself in the 3rd person
  • Big Bird is 8’2″ tall
  • Elmo is the only non-human to testify before Congress
  • All Sesame Street‘s main Muppets have four fingers except Cookie Monster, who has five fingers"

"Wow Periwinkle, you sure are smart.  You know a lot about Sesame Street Day" said Stinky.  Periwinkle blushed and said she wasn't that smart, she used Mr. Google.  "let's hop in the Teleportation Tunnel and get on our way" said Periwinkle.  She grabbed Stinky by the paw and off they went.

The Tabbies couldn't wait to walk around and see everything!  First, they met Oscar the Grouch.

A little while later they spotted Big Bird reading.  Stinky ran right up to him and sat and listened to him read for a while.

"Gee, I'll have to tell the Tabbies of Trout Town how nice he was for a BURD!" said Stinky.  Perwinkle agreed.

They stopped to admire the beautiful gardens when Stinky went running off!  Periwinkle had to run as fast as she could to catch him.

"STINKY!  Stop!  What are you doing"  asked Periwinkle. Stinky said he saw Oscar's Wacky Taxi roller coaster.
"PLEASE, can we go on this?  I promise I won't get myself too excited and we'll be safe" he said.

Periwinkle was skeptical about going on the roller coaster.  She didn't want to do anything to make Stinky have a seizure and was very cautious.  Periwinkle went up to the person running the roller coaster and explained her dilemma.  He promised to put them all the way in the back and told them to hold on tightly to each other.  Periwinkle liked THAT idea, so off they went!
Neither of them wanted to admit that they were paying more attention to snuggling with each other than the ride.  Periwinkle admitted she was a little scared but being with big strong ManCat made her feel safe.  Now it was Stinky's turn to blush.

It was almost time to leave for home and both Periwinkle and Stinky were a little hungry so they stopped at Cookie's Cafe and spotted Cookie Monster and Elmo.  They were very familiar with Periwinkle and Stinky and their adventures and invited them to join them at their table.

After their snack, they said goodbye and headed to the Teleportation Tunnel to go back to Periwinkle's house.  It was time for Stinky to leave and he spent some time with Periwinkle's fursibs Raz and Noelle and her Mom and then shared some whisker kisses and paw pats.  They hated this part of their visits.

Stinky stepped into the tunnel, blew a kiss to Periwinkle and WOOSH, he was headed home.  Periwinkle wiped a tear from her eye and decided it was a good time for a nap so she could dream about her special guy.

What an amazingly cool place for an adventure. We didn’t even know it existed. We all wish we could have gone along on this trip. We sure learned a lot as well. We loved our two favorite tabbies snuggling in the last car on the roller coaster. Can’t wait to see what they get up to next week. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer with whisker kisses and purrs from him for Noelle.

What an exciting adventure you two just had! Dad told us about when he first heard about Sesame street. He was just turning 16 (yeah he is OLD) and a bit "too cool" as he says to jump on the bandwagon but really did like them a lot. So many wonderful things they have done over the years and when you add in teaching so many kids how to read! Wow! Oskar is Dads favorite and ours too. Thanks for taking us along!
