The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle excitedly paced back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel.  Any minute now she expected to see her handsome boyfriend, Stinky.  Sure enough, the Tunnel started to rumble and he popped out.  She took his paw, gave him a quick whisker kiss, and guided him back into the Tunnel, saying "We have a long way to go so we have to head right out."  Knowing how well she plans things, Stinky followed without question.

In a flash, they landed at their destination.  Nothing looked familiar to Stinky so he asked where they were.  Periwinkle explained that they were in Amsterdam and were about to visit the Cat Cabinet cat museum.  Stinky said, "I remember how much fun we had in the other cat museums we visited so let's go!"
Having done her research, Periwinkle described the Cat Cabinet to Stinky.  "The Cat Cabinet was founded in 1990 by Bob Meijer, a Dutch businessman, in memory of his beloved cat, John Pierpont Morgan (named after the American banker J.P. Morgan). It is situated in a beautiful 17th-century townhouse along the Herengracht Canal, one of Amsterdam's most picturesque and historic areas. The story goes that J.P. Morgan (the cat) was given presents for his birthdays including painted portraits, bronze sculptures, and even a book of limericks!

Paw in paw, they entered the museum.  Stinky couldn't resist climbing on the window sill in the sculpture room.  Periwinkle rolled her eyes but didn't say anything because she knew he was safe there since it wasn't very high.
The tabbies enjoyed seeing the various types of art.
Of course, Stinky couldn't resist running to the top of the stairs.

There were posters everywhere.  Stinky spotted a space kitty one and pointed it out to Periwinkle.

They strolled through the garden where they saw many more posters.

Periwinkle continued "The museum's collection includes paintings, sculptures, posters, and various objects from different periods, all featuring cats. Notable artists such as Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt, Henriette Ronner-Knip, and more have works displayed here." Stinky was impurressed by her knowledge of the museum.

They both gasped when they saw the ginger Tabby. "I'm glad my brofurs Cooper Murphy and Raleigh don't look like that," said Stinky. Periwinkle said she was glad their pal Teddy didn't either.

"Can you tell me more about the cat, JP Morgan?" asked Stinky. Perwinkle knew he would ask and had more background on JP Morgan (the cat).
"The Cat Cabinet was inspired by a cat named John Pierpont Morgan, named after the famous American banker J.P. Morgan. Bob Meijer, the founder of the Cat Cabinet, was deeply attached to his cat, J.P. Morgan. After the cat passed away, Meijer decided to create a museum in his memory. Every five years Morgan received a special present. On his fifth birthday Ansel Sandberg painted his portrait. On his tenth birthday it was a bronze sculpture, for which Morgan himself modeled. Unfortunately, this sculpture was stolen already before the opening of the Cat Cabinet. For the celebrations of his fifteenth birthday his friends and admirers compiled a book of fifty limericks, all dedicated to Morgan: “A Cocky Cat from Toulouse and Other Cat Nonsense”.

For that same birthday, Aart Clerkx made a portrait of Morgan so that he could easily replace George Washington on the American dollar bill. A set of these dollar bills was printed from the bank of Pierpont Morgan for the occasion. The text “In God We Trust” was especially replaced for Morgan with the text “We Trust No Dog” which made them both giggle.

"It would be fun to have green papers with OUR photos on them" said Stinky.

As they walked they saw other interesting items like a cat pinball machine...

and some slippers that they both agreed their Moms would probably break something if they tried to walk in them...

They spotted two of the resident cats napping and decided to join them for a bit...

After their nap they went to the gift shop where they both purchased Howling Cat posters for their Moms.

It was time for them to return to Periwinkle's house so they re-entered the Teleportation Tunnel and, in a blink of an eye, were back at her house.  Stinky visited her fursibs and her Mom and then took his poster and headed home.  Before he left, they took this photo to remind you that today is Hug Your Cat Day!

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle woke up early to check the weather and make sure it was safe to travel in the Teleportation Tunnel since there had been lots of thunderstorms lately.  Fortunately, it was good so Stinky would have a smooth ride to her house and then a quick ride to where their Adventure was going to be.

Suddenly the Teleportation Tunnel started to shake and, with a WOOOSH, Stinky tumbled out into her waiting paws.  They spent a few minutes whisker kissing and hugging and then Periwinkle directed him back into the Tunnel.   When they popped out he thought they were back at Legoland.  "We had so much fun here, thanks for bringing me back," said Stinky.  Periwinkle agreed that they had fun but told him they were going to another area.  "We're going to visit Peppa Pig today," said Periwinkle who quickly took his paw and led him to the entrance.

As always, Periwinkle had done her research on the park. " Peppa Pig Theme Park is an immersive experience that places guests right in the world of Peppa, and her friends. In this fabulous standalone theme park, guests can enjoy six new rides designed especially for preschoolers, as well as lots of play spaces, shows, splash pads, additional attractions, and character meet and greets." She continued, "I know we're not preschoolers, but we're cats and small enough for the rides"  Stinky agreed that the rides were purrfect for them.

Periwinkle had a  map so they could find everything easily.

As soon as he said that the rides were purrfect, Stinky ran off and Periwinkle spotted him high up on Grandad Dog’s Pirate Boat Ride.   She rolled her eyes and laughed since he was at least in a safe place.

Periwinkle let out a shout of glee as she saw Peppa and ran up to her for a hug!

They enjoyed the splash pad and Periwinkle read from the guide: "Muddy Puddles Splash Pad – Have an oinktastic time with Peppa and George doing their favorite thing: jumping up and down in “muddy puddles!” This lively play area has spouting fountains, slides and other watery surprises to keep the play experiences super fun and splashy!" They giggled at the word "oinktastic" and headed onto the splash pad.

Stinky took a spin on Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Park
And the water slide...

Both tabbies were hungry so they headed to Miss Rabbit's Diner for a snack.

As often happens, they were impurressed by the selection of Temptations offered at the diner.

Periwinkle told Stinky that there is also a breakfast event in the Summer for the little humans, "available Fridays and Saturdays through August 5, Breakfast with Peppa is being held at the Peppa Pig Theme Park. The all-you-can-eat buffet includes plant-based overnight oats, eggs, fruit and pastries. There’s also an exclusive breakfast sandwich served on a freshly-baked baguette as well as a waffle and pancake bar.

Another offering is chicken-apple links since there aren’t any pork products at the meal. Got to respect the guest of honor."  Stinky agreed that it was thoughtful not to serve pork.

Not wanting to forget their Moms, they headed to the gift shop to find something to bring back.

They decided on small garden flags which would be easy to bring back in the Teleportation Tunnel...

It was time for them to head back to Periwinkle's house so they hopped back into the Teleportation Tunnel for the short trip to her house.  They snuggled and whisker kissed for a bit, visited with Periwinkle's fursibs and then it was time for Stinky to leave.  With a final whisker kiss, he got into the Tunnel and, with a WOOSH, headed home.

Periwinkle looked for her fursibs to see what they were up to while she was gone and started thinking about what she and Stinky could do next time.

Here's a short video to show you more about the Peppa Pig Theme Park.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Pacing back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel, Periwinkle went over her checklist for the day.  She wanted to make sure they were prepared because they had an important mission today.  With a loud WOOOSH, the tunnel shook and Stinky arrived landing right into her paws.   The two giggled, shared whisker kisses, and spent time catching up with each other.

Stinky asked, "are we all set for today?"  Periwinkle said they were and they both returned to the Teleportation Tunnel along with the supplies.  No sooner did they get into the tunnel than they tumbled out at their destination.  "I am always so impurressed with how well the Teleportation Tunnel works," said Stinky.

The two heard a lot of noise and pretty soon they were surrounded by loud gobbles and they could hear their names!  Yes, they were back at the turkey farm with disguises to, once again, save the turkeys!

Periwinkle pulled out their bag of disguises and the two got to work handing them out.

While they were handing out the disguises, Periwinkle told Stinky that children all over work on disguises for turkeys.  They stopped for a minute so she could show him some photos and cute cartoons with disguise ideas.

There are also lots of cute cartoons about turkey disguises.

There were loads of turkeys and everyone wanted a disguise!

As always, Periwinkle had some fun facts to share about Turkeys!
  • Turkeys are big. ...
  • Turkeys are toms or hens. ...
  • Turkeys are fast. ...
  • Turkeys are loud. ...
  • Turkeys have excellent eyesight. ...
  • The turkey was almost the national bird.

"Periwinkle, you always have the best facts to share with me" said Stinky.  Periwinkle blushed and said it was Mr. Google that helped her find fun facts.

After a while, the two gave out all their disguises and said goodbye to the turkeys.

As they prepared to step back into the Teleporation Tunnel, they noticed one of the turkeys changing the sign at the gate.

They waved goodbye to the turkeys and with a WOOOSH, they were back at Periwinkle's house.  Periwinkle's Mom drove them to the beach so they could have a picnic before Stinky had to go home.  They giggled when people looked at them because they were wearing disguises like they brought the turkeys!

While they enjoyed their snacks, they talked about the things they are thankful for.  Periwinkle went first and said she was thankful that Stinky/Sawyer came home safely from his walkabout.  "I sure was worried we would never see each other" she added.  Stinky said it was scary and he promised never to do that again.  "I'm thankful that I have a loving home and a Mom and Dad who did everything possible to make sure we came home safely" said Stinky.

Both tabbies said they were thankful that their families stayed healthy during the nasty pandemic and that, hopefully, things are getting much better.

"I'm thankful for Temptations and  Fancy Feast" said Stinky.  Periwinkle said she was too although her brofur Raz was the Treat Monster at their house.  Stinky laughed and said he was too.

"Most of all, I am thankful for YOU" said Periwinkle.  That made Stinky blush but smile because he considered himself a very lucky Mancat.  "Periwinkle, I am so thrilled that you are my girlfriend and I am thankful for our fun adventures together"

Soon it was time for Stinky to head home.  They both agreed that this was another fun day and they couldn't wait for next week.   With a WOOOSH, Stinky headed home laughing because he was wearing his disguise and he wondered if his Mom and Dad and fursibs would recognize him.

Periwinkle, still wearing her disguise, found a sunpuddle and took a nap dreaming of her boyfriend.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle was so excited!  It was Tuesday and that meant her boyfriend Stinky would soon be arriving.  She stood as close to the Teleportation Tunnel as she could so she could hear when he was on his way.  WOOSH...she jumped back and there he was.  Stinky bounced out of the Tunnel and right into Periwinkle's arms.  They spent some time snuggling, headbonking and sharing whisker kisses.  It always seemed like years since they last saw each other.

"Periwinkle, I'm glad you told me to bring my coat!  Who knew it would be so cold here in Florida?" said Stinky.  Periwinkle told him they would be staying indoors so he could take off his coat.  She handed him a Santa hat and the two put them on and giggled when they saw each other!

Stinky asked "So what's on the agenda for today?  I know we need to be really GOOD because Santa is watching.  I'm so glad we got to write our letters to him so he could get them in time.  I sure hope we both get what we asked for."

Today I wanted to show you all the decorations Mom put up here at our house.  We're ready for the big guy in the red suit!

First, she showed him the big tree in the living room.  "Boy, look at all the cat ornaments on this tree," said Stinky.

Periwinkle showed him how pretty it looks at night too.  "Hey look, there's your alter-ego, Noelle on the cat tree," They both thought that was super funny.

On to the Christmas houses.  They had to be super careful so they didn't knock anything down (although the urge to whap was hard to control).

Next Periwinkle showed Stinky the nativity
....

They took a photo with the nutcrackers...

"Hey Periwinkle, do you think anyone will be able to find us among all these snowmen?" asked Stinky.  They both giggled again.

Periwinkle said she thought they should stop and have a snack.  "Whoa....isn't it too cold outside?" asked Stinky.  "We're going to stay inside and eat at the dining room table so we can look at all the decorations," said Periwinkle.  Stinky agreed that Periwinkle's idea was a good one.  They both enjoyed their Fancy Feast and reminisced about last year when they visited the tree farm.

"The best part of the Tree farm was when we got to ride in the sleigh.  I loved being able to snuggle together" said Periwinkle.  Stinky blushed...that was his favorite part too.

After their snack, they were both sleepy so they decided to take a quick nap in the Christmas bed under the tree.

It was time for Stinky to head home.  They spent some time with Periwinkle's brofur, Raz before Stinky had to leave.

Periwinkle and Stinky spent a little more time sharing whisker kisses and hugs before he had to leave.
With a WOOSH, he was gone but not before throwing one more kiss to Periwinkle.  Periwinkle decided to return to the Christmas bed to have another nap and dream of Stinky and start counting the days till next Tuesday.
