Periwinkle lounged in a sun puddle and groomed her furs. She was waiting for her handsome fiancé, Stinky's, arrival. She hoped he would like what she planned for their Adventure. She didn't have to wait long before the Teleportation Tunnel began to shake and, with a WOOSH, he popped out right into her waiting paws. They giggled, whisker-kissed, and spent time paw-patting. It didn't take him long to figure out what they were doing. "I noticed our Logo says International Friendship Day," he said. Periwinkle was impurressed with his observation and told him he was right. "Even though it's not until Thursday, I thought we might share some of our International Friends. We have lots, so we can only do one today, but I think some of our newer pals might not know them." Stinky agreed with her so they started to gather information. They both agreed this would be a different kind of Adventure but one they thought their friends would enjoy.
The Cats-astrophic gang lives in Midway, BC, Canada, but there's more to the story. In Mom Barb's words:
"Nellie had followers far beyond the Cat Blogosphere. The Cat From Hell was in the top 10 Canadian blogs the whole time it was being kept track of. In 2008 she was the #1 Pet Blog in Canada. Fast forward to 2017. One of Nellie's followers was a Lady who brought Street dogs from Europe to Canada for re-homing. One day, while picking up a street dog, she spotted a squirming plastic bag tied to an exhaust pipe of a running cube van. Inside was a small kitten. She took the kitten to the vet who checked out the dogs before they were sent to Canada. At first Marvelous was quite ill. He had asthma from being gassed tied to the exhaust pipe and required oxygen. He was taken care of in a small back room at the vets. After 6 months, Marvelous was ready to be re-homed, but neither the vet or the lady could find anyone who wanted a cat who may need special care. The lady thought about sending him to Canada - like the dogs and as she had been a Nellie follower she knew that Nellie had gone over the bridge, she contacted me (Barb the Mom) to see if I was interested in fostering Marvelous and find him a new home. Of course I said yes! Who could say NO! to his cute face.
About 6 weeks later, after Marv had all his shots, was chipped and spayed Marv was placed in a Cat Carrier and brought to Canada . Marv was inside his cat carrier for 45 hours, went through European and Canadian customs and Mom Barb picked him up at the Airport in Vancouver.
Marv is a foster fail! To this day, no one can pick Marv up! Even though he is personable and friendly, even with strangers, the minute someone tries to put their hands around him he freaks out. He LOVES to sit on Mom's lap with her hand over his face like she is holding an oxygen mask. His Asthma is gone, though he does have some issues when we are inundated with forest fire smoke from Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
He is meticulous in his litter box habits, when he eats, he does not fling the cat food hither and yon (unlike Jo Jo and Kozmo).
Marvelous was quite happy being a "Townhouse" Cat in Vancouver. He spent his first 1 and a half years with Mom, being mostly and only cat. Kozmo and Jo Jo and Cinnamon did come and visit, but the last year, before Mom moved back to Midway they were there full time. There were many arguments about who was the top cat in the Catio!
When Mom did move back to Midway to take care of the Dad, Marv was pawsitive he had moved to heaven on earth. He LOVES his yard, the river, and he gets along with the neighborhood ferals and he has made friends with our neighbors and he LOVES to catch the Moles, Voles and mice in their gardens. They are quite used to having him come and demand pets when they are out enjoying their gardens.
Marvelous is a HAPPY cat! He loves to make the Peeps laugh and he smiles! Everyone who visits notices his smiles.
He LOVES to visit his furrends online and especially loves the adventures of Periwinkle and Stinkie (even though he complains the Mom does not help him comment often enough) He also tells Mom that her excuse of finding it difficult to comment using her phone when reading friends' posts in bed is NOT good enough!"
