The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle woke up early and got ready for Stinky's arrival.  Today was a traditional Adventure (with some twists). It was time for one of Periwinkle and Stinky’s favorite yearly traditions — a visit to Walter’s House of the Black Cats! Just then, the Teleportation Tunnel gave its familiar WHOOSH! and Stinky arrived, ready for their annual adventure. After a few whisker kisses and paw pats, the two tabbies were off to see Walter and the gang.

The black cats were happy to see their old friends again. They shared plenty of friendly meows, nose boops, and stories. Periwinkle and Stinky loved catching up with everyone and making sure their feline friends knew they hadn't been forgotten. “Every cat deserves love, a safe place to call home, and a little extra kindness,” Periwinkle explained to Stinky.

“Especially when they have such a great and safe place to live!” Stinky added with a happy purr.  Suddenly, all of the black cats turned, and Walter came out to greet them.  The tabbies ran up to him, and they all hugged!  Once again, they told Walter how much they appreciated how he took care of the black cats at Halloween and throughout the year.  Walter said things were more expensive, but with the help of generous friends like Periwinkle and Stinky, he was able to take care of everyone who showed up for safety.   He apologized for the size of the list and told them he would understand if they couldn't get everything.

Walter told them new kitties were arriving every day.  They followed him to a room where some of the younger ones were.

After visiting with the youngsters and Walter, Periwinkle said that they had to leave because they had something else they had to do.  Stinky scratched his head and wondered what, but knew not to question Periwinkle.  Before heading home, the two promised Walter and the black cats they would make sure he got the items on his wishlist, just as they always did.  They also presented him with a badge they made with ChatGPT to thank him for all he did.  Walter got a little leaky-eyed and thanked them.

They waved goodbye and headed into the Teleportation Tunnel to go back to Periwinkle's house.  Stinky asked what else they were doing, and Periwinkle told him they were going to help with the Halloween decorations and, later, drive around and see the decorations in Periwinkle's neighborhood.  She also said there would be snacks which made Stinky very happy!

As soon as they arrived at Periwinkle's house, the two started decorating.  Of course, Stinky had to do the one high up on the entertainment center.  Periwinkle sighed but knew that he could get down without hurting himself.

Periwinkle showed him Ghost Kitty...

They worked on the fireplace and all the decorations that go around it!

Reesie and Noelle modeled the Halloween rugs..

Stinky mentioned that his tummy was rumbling, and Periwinkle said, "This is the purrfect time for a snack since we still have one more part to this Adventure."  She hurried to grab the snacks, and they went outside.  Stinky laughed when he saw they had Tasty Human and Creepy Catnip treats!  The enjoyed their snack, held paws and enjoyed each other's company.

Soon Stinky asked, "Are we ready for the next part of this Adventure?"  Periwinkle said they were going to ride around and see some of the cool Halloween decorations in the neighborhood.  Periwinkle giggled and said, "Mom's decorations are kind  of lame next to the ones we're going to see."

First they saw a giant cat!

And a spooky ghost!

Lots of different characters here...

A couple of really BIG guys...

And another large and fun display!

It was getting late, so they returned to Periwinkle's house.  Stinky really liked how the fireplace looked at night.

Periwinkle said, "We have one more thing to share with our pals.  My Mom follows a lady named Kim Komando who has lots of techy info.  This week she shared how to ask ChatGPT to make a pumpkin carving stencil of your pet.  Here's the prompt...
Turn this photo of my pet into a pumpkin-carving stencil. Black and white only, with thick, bold lines and no tiny details. Shade the parts I should carve out in solid black. Everything white stays on the pumpkin. Add “bridges” so no piece falls out of the middle. Make it [beginner/show-off] difficulty and size it to fit on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

We tried it and here's what we got.  First she did us,

Then she did Noelle and Reesie...
I think they turned out great, don't you?"  Stinky agreed!

The two spent some time whisker-kissing and paw-patting and saying "I love you" to each other.  Stinky thanked Periwinkle's Mom for taking them to see the Halloween decorations and she thanked him for helping with their house decorations.  Periwinkle told him she was proud of him for not climbing on any of the outside decorations, which made him smile knowing he pleased her.  Finally,  one last whisker kiss and a WOOSH and he was on his way home.

We hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween. Here's a chart with some Black Cat Facts for Kids (any any adult who doesn't know!)

Remember, October is Black Cats Awarenes Month.

I am sure Walter loved that you are helping out with his shelter. And those were fun decorations that you got to see.The inside ones are cool too.
What fun to make stencils of yourselves for carving out a pumpkin!
