Sunday Selfies with a guest

We're pawticipating in The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies today.

We have a special selfie today!   We have a VISITOR!!

Hey Raz.....who is this?????

We're happy to say that the very famous BASHFUL is here to spend the holidays with us!! If you are not familiar with Bashful, he belongs to our pal Bacon from PigLove.   Here's a little info on Bashful from Bacon's blog:

I also have a pet rock named Bashful. He knows a lot of tricks like stay, sit, be quiet and dad taught him how to play dead. Bashful is a happening pebble. He is definitely the “international rolling stone“.  He goes to all kinds of different places and stays with host families having adventures.  His first trip was to France and was amazing!  As Bashful has traveled, he has picked up a few friends of his own.  They now live with us as well at the Hotel Thompson.  Check back often because the rock friends are growing!  I hope you enjoy our blog!  Hogs and snout kisses – Bacon

One of the first thing Bashful wanted to do was take a selfie.  He figured his family would like seeing that he made it here safe and sound.

Stay tuned for fun adventures with Bashful!!

Shopping Around The World

Today is Shopping Around the world with our pal Bacon from PigLove

From Bacon:
Do a posting on your blog linking back to mine.  That way we can keep track of all of the different prices and recipes from all over the world.
This month we are highlighting items that you are known for.   Do you have that one dish that everyone asks for at a party, at dinner, at the church?  What kind of ingredients do you have in it and what does it look like? Don't forget to include prices and pictures if you can.

Mom makes these a lot...they are super easy peasy and they go like hotcakes.   She usually makes a double batch of them.  Two ingredients and delicious!  If you don't like hot, don't worry.  Slice the Jalapeno peppers super thin and make sure you remove the seeds and the white fiber inside and they will give you the flavor but not the super heat!

NGREDIENTS:
1 cup shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
1 medium fresh jalapeno, sliced real thin
DIRECTIONS:  Preheat oven to 350º.  Place a sheet of parchment paper on a metal cookie sheet.  DO NOT use a silicone/silpat sheet, waxed paper or foil (unless it’s the special non-stick foil) to bake these or they will not cook properly.  Using a tablespoon, scoop up 1 T. of cheese and make a small pile on the parchment.  Press it slightly flat.  Repeat 15 more times. Place a slice of jalapeno on top of each pile.  Pop into 350º oven for about 10-12 minutes.    These are somewhat pliable if under browned. Allow them to completely cool and fully firm up before removing from the pan for best results.🙂

Shredded Monterrey Jack cheese - $2.50/ 8 ounce package

Jalepeno Pepper $2.49/lb

Shopping Around the World

It's that time again - Shopping Around the World hosted by our pal Bacon of PigLove.

Do a posting on your blog linking back to mine.  That way we can keep track of all of the different prices and recipes from all over the world.
This month we are highlighting sandwiches.  Show us your creativity and your best sandwich.  What makes it special?  What kind of ingredients do you have in it and what does it look like?  It can be more than five ingredients

Today we're sharing the recipe for a sandwich that Dad absolutely loves (Mom too but minus the bread)

Croque Madam by Paula Deen

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 extra-large eggs
  • 12 oz smoked ham, very thinly sliced
  • 8 oz Gruyere cheese, sliced thin
  • 8 slices sourdough bread

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400°F

Set half of the slices of bread buttered side down in the griddle or cast iron skillet, and cover each with a slice of cheese. Place 3 or 4 slices of the ham over the cheese, and place the top slice of bread over the ham, buttered side up. Heat griddle or skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches until bottom is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 3 minutes per side. Remove sandwiches and place on a plate. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the top of each sandwich, and then place a slice of cheese on top. Put the sandwiches back onto the griddle or skillet then place in oven, cooking until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in skillet over high heat. Cook each egg sunny side up. Turn egg over and cook 3 minutes longer for a soft-cooked egg, or 5 minutes longer for a hard-cooked egg. Repeat with remaining butter and eggs.

Place one fried egg atop each sandwich. Season egg to taste with salt and pepper. Serve sandwich immediately

Ingredients:

Mayonnaise -  BOGO $5.15 (2.48 each 22 ounce container)
Butter - $3.99/lb
Eggs -$2.85/ dozen
Ham - Boars Head $10.99/lb
Gruyere - $19.99/lb

Show and Tell

We're pawticipating in our pal Bacon's Show and Tell today....  From Bacon's blog...

For November – we want to see party pictures.  Since this is Thanksgiving, let’s focus on that.  What did you and your family do for Thanksgiving – or any other big holiday where you are.  Did your family get together?  Did you go out to eat?  Did you cook out?
Let’s share pictures and stories of what we did.

Mark your calendars for Monday, November 30th to join Bacon’s Show and Tell.  Remember to link back to my blog – See you here!

At Cat Scouts we had a Thanksgiving Eve celebration where everyone brought a dessert and shared stories of what they are thankful for.  Raz and Allie brought s'mores.

Our Thanksgiving was super.   Since we have major upset with our kitchen, Mom cooked the side dishes at home and took the turkey to a friend's house where she cooked the turkey.

Everyone enjoyed dinner.....even the Alien sitting next to Daddy.

biggify to see the Alien

What did you do for Thanksgiving?  We can't wait to see all the other posts.
