The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

 

Periwinkle paced nervously by the Teleportation Tunnel.  She hoped Stinky didn't mind the mish-mash of activities she had planned for today.   She didn't have long to wait because the Teleportation Tunnel began to shake and, with the familiar WOOSH, out popped Stinky into her waiting paws.  They spent some time whisker kissing and paw patting and then he asked what she had planned.  "Well, we're doing a few different things today since there are three separate events to celebrate," said Periwinkle.

She handed Stinky a bow tie and he jumped up and down and asked if they were going to Mardi Gras.

"I wish we could but we have a few other things to do so Mom bought us some beignets from a local bakery for a snack while we reminisce about our Adventures in New Orleans.   Click HERE and HERE if you missed those Adventures

The two tabbies chatted and laughed as they remembered their other adventures...

Just when they thought they were done, Periwinkle's Mom brought out a plate of hot cross buns. Stinky looked a bit confused so Periwinkle explained, "Hot Cross Buns are a Lenten tradition. They are symbolic of this significant day in the Christian faith when Jesus was crucified. Each bun is decorated with a cross made from flour paste, which represents the cross on which Christ died. The spices in hot cross buns are said to represent the spices that were used to embalm Christ after his death."  Stinky wasn't so sure about the embalming spices but gave them a try.  "These are dee-lish especially warmed up with butter like your Mom made them for us."   Periwinkle was glad he liked them but told him there was a lot more to come.

Sounding a bit like an infomercial, Periwinkle said "But wait...there's More!"  She handed Stinky a party hat.  Confused, he put it on but wondered what they were celebrating.

"Mom was such a slacker and forgot to post a party for Reesie on our blog last week so I thought we could celebrate today." Stinky agreed that it was a great idea.

Of course, there were her favorite soft treats...

As soon as they finished their birthday cake, Periwinkle handed Stinky a change of clothes.  He giggled and hugged her and said he was happy she remembered that the next day was Valentine's Day.

"I wrote you a love letter" said Stinky

Periwinkle blushed and told him how much she liked his love letter.  "I wrote one too" she said.

The two hugged, whisker kissed and held paws until it was time for Stinky to leave.  He took home a piece of cake for his Mom and fursibs and entered the Teleportation Tunnel and with a whisker kiss and a WOOSH, headed home.

Unfortunately, today is a sad day for us too. We all miss our Daddy very much.  Today is his five-month anniversary in Heaven.  Mom's been having a leaky eyed problem the last couple of days.
