Flat Raz sure had a great time eating and drinking his way through Sedona. Today we're going to share some photos from Mom and Dad's anniversary dinner and the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
The day started with Dad's favorite breakfast at the
Cozy Cactus. It was a Vortex puff with lemon curd.....when you cut into it there is warm berry filling. Totally AWESOME!
Mom and Dad visited the
Chapel of the Holy Cross which is one of the most beautifully designed chapels! From the Chapel website:
The Chapel of the Holy Cross was a gift from Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a sculptress, philanthropist, and devout Catholic, who believed the arts should be in service of spirit and indeed, considered the Chapel of the Holy Cross to be her greatest artistic achievement and the fulfillment of her life's mission. In 1932 Staude had an epiphany. While she gazed upon the newly completed Empire State Building, she saw a cross superimposed on the structure, and she thought, "What an idea for a church!" This idea, which affirmed her belief that churches should speak to the people of their time, would haunt and inspire Staude. "God can be worshipped as a contemporary--bringing him closer to earth and every one of us," she said. - See more at: http://www.gatewaytosedona.com/sedona-arizona-information/sedona-attractions/91-the-chapel-of-the-holy-cross-sedona-architectural-landmark#sthash.yZhjSLwl.dpuf
Interior shot of the Altar. If you biggify it, you can get an idea of the fantastic view!
One of the reasons this site was picked was because of the center rock formation. If you look closely, it looks like the Madonna and child. The other rocks give the appearance of Nuns watching over.
Since it was their anniversary, Carrie from the Cozy Cactus suggested
The Hudson for dinner and offered to call to make reservations for them. Once again, they had a delicious and creative dinner!!
Ut oh.....here he goes again......
Mom and Dad each had the same thing for dinner - the BEEF & BLUE CENTER CUT PRIME BEEF FILET (Mom had hers without the potatoes). Biggify the picture to see how beautifully the meal was! They did a weave of asparagus and little bouquets of the veggies!!
Of course there was dessert....They figured they should have this one since it was named after Ellie!! ELLIE’S CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE
Between the wine and the dessert, Flat Raz was seen snoozing on the table!!!
