The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle paced back and forth in front of the Teleportation Tunnel.  She hoped Stinky wouldn't have any issues with the tunnel.  She still laughed when she thought of the problem she had last week when his little brofur Raleigh was in the tunnel.

Suddenly, she heard the familiar WOOSH, and out popped Stinky!  The two hugged, whisker kissed, and giggled as they spent time catching up on the previous week.  Stinky asked Periwinkle how her brofur Raz was doing and she said he was still taking the anti-nausea medicine and the appetite stimulant and was doing okay.  Of course, they were all still very concerned and couldn't wait for him to have his ultrasound to ensure nothing bad was going on.

"I know it's been colder here lately, are we going to see the manatees today," asked Stinky.  Periwinkle said her Mom checked it out and there were not currently there.  She showed him photos her Mom took...

"I have something different planned...we're actually going somewhere today," said Periwinkle.  She took his paw and they popped back into the Teleportation Tunnel.  When they arrived at their destination, Stinky agreed that Periwinkle picked a good place for their Adventure!

"The American Museum of the House Cat is dedicated to Cat Lovers everywhere. It is an Art Gallery that traces the History of the House Cat in America. The museum is a private collection of multi-media art relating to House Cat that tells the story encompassing fine art, folk art, art in advertising, 3D art as well as collectibles and antiques" said Periwinkle. They held paws and entered the museum.

"Wow, look at all these collectibles," said Stinky. Periwinkle pointed out the sign that said "DO NOT climb the fence or sit on the animals" which made Stinky blush since he knew he sometimes got into trouble doing things like that.

Both agreed their Moms would love to see all the kittie things in the cases....

The Spaghetti Glass collection was super interesting...

They both agreed the statue of Bast was amazing...

and they enjoyed looking at the various other items...

The Carousel Cats were super nice...

 Of course, Stinky couldn't resist!

They also saw a cat-faced car....

and a large metal cat!
Once again, Stinky had to hop on the metal cat...
Periwinkle told Stinky more about the Museum...."Curated by Harold Simms, the well-respected founder of Catman2 rescue in Sylva, NC, The American Museum of the House Cat is only one of 2 museums in the United States dedicated to the domesticated feline. Originating with Simms’ personal collection of cat art and items, the museum is now open to the public with all proceeds going to cat rescue.

When you first enter, you’re almost overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of feline objects, estimated to be over 10,000 in number. Of course, there are obligatory cat figurines, stuffed toy cats, and every possible signage featuring a cat. But once you acclimate and begin to really study the displays and curio cases, incredible things start to pop out at you.

There is a weirdly wonderful paper mâché mashup of an octopus with a kitty head, a tiny cat orchestra performing in a mini concert hall – complete with a band director and photographer, a kitty carousel, cat masks, kitty beer steins, and cat clocks galore.

There are also some exhibits that you probably won’t ever see anywhere else. Unbelievably, there is the Medieval petrified cat on display and a 300-30 B.C. Egyptian cat mummy encased in glass."   Stinky was impurressed with her knowledge.

Before they left to go back to Periwinkle's house, they visited with some of the cats who live at the museum.

After a quick trip in the Teleportation Tunnel, they arrived back at Periwinkle's house.  They enjoyed a snack with her fursibs and watched a video about the museum.

They spent some time whisker kissing, paw patting, and snuggling until it was time for Stinky to head home.  "I sure had a lot of fun today," said Stinky.   Periwinkle said she did too and would keep watching for the manatees so they could go visit them sometime soon.

With a WOOSH and a whisker kiss, Stinky headed home.  Periwinkle went to find a sun puddle and dream of her handsome boyfriend.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle woke up early because she was so excited that her boyfriend Stinky was coming to visit today.  She  waited all week for Tuesdays to come.  As she sat by the Teleportation Tunnel she daydreamed about her handsome guy and then with a WOOSH, there he was in her arms.  The two spent time whisker kissing and catching up on the past week.

"Remember a few weeks ago when we visited the Manatees?" asked Periwinkle.  "I sure do" said Stinky.  Periwinkle explained that the cold weather right after his visit brought even more Manatees in.  She led him to her Mom's computer to show him a video.

"Are we going back there today?" asked Stinky.  Periwinkle said they were actually staying at her house but that they had an important message to share with their friends.

"Today is a special day" said Periwinkle.  Stinky laughed and asked if they were celebrating National Walk Your Dog Day.  Periwinkle looked at him and they both started giggling and then were laughing so hard they could hardly stop.   "Silly boy, neither one of us has a dog" said Periwinkle.  They started to giggle again but eventually Stinky asked what their plan was.

"Well we really should celebrate TWOSDAY!" said Periwinkle.  That got them giggling again!!

Once they settled down again, Periwinkle said "Today is important because it is World Spay Day.

It's part of Spay and Neuter Awareness Month.  Each year many dogs and cats and other animals are euthanized because they don't have responsible owners.  We're lucky because our parents made sure we were so we wouldn't add to the number of homeless pets" said Periwinkle.  Stinky agreed that was an important message and then said "So, if we got married someday we wouldn't have kittens"  At the thought of marrying Stinky, Periwinkle blushed and smiled but said that was true.

Periwinkle said that the  Doris Day Animal League founded Spay Day USA in 1994 to bring attention to the pet overpopulation problem in the United States and encourage animal population control by neutering pets. The movement later spread globally and is now known as World Spay Day.  She then shared the following facts:
  •  Spay Day USA is a day of awareness of both neutering and spaying.
  • In spite of what some people think, Spaying or neutering has to be done at an early age, before the first heat for females and before the 6 months for males.
  • Quite a lot of states in the USA and countries around the world have programs at a lower cost.  There are lots of places around that do this which makes it an affordable surgery for many.
  • Neutering or spaying at an early age also helps in nixing aggression levels.
  • It has been observed that neutered dogs focus more on the owners and do not wander away either.
  • Neutering your cat will help prevent spraying.

"I hope you weren't bored with our Adventure today, but I think it's an important message we need to share.  We're lucky because our families have made sure neither one of us or our fursibs will add to overpopulation" said Periwinkle.  Stinky told Periwinkle he was impurressed with all the information she found.

"That was a lot of work and it sure made me hungry" said Stinky.  Since it was a nice day, the two headed for the pool deck to enjoy a snack.  Stinky was surprised at how green everything was since it was still cold at his house.

After snacks, the tabbies decided to take a short nap, and then Stinky visited with Periwinkle's Mom and fursibs.  Too soon it was time for Stinky to enter the Teleportation Tunnel to head home.  The two spent some more time whisker kissing and paw patting and then Stinky entered the tunnel.  He blew a final kiss to Periwinkle and with a WOOSH was on his way home.

Periwinkle wiped a tear and headed to her favorite napping spot to dream of Stinky and their next Adventure.

The Adventures of Periwinkle and Stinky

Periwinkle woke up early that morning and was so excited. It was Tuesday and her boyfriend, Stinky would be at her house soon for their last Adventure of 2020.  She kept going back to the Teleportation Tunnel to hear that familiar WOOOSH and all of a sudden she heard it with just enough time to hop back before Stinky barreled out and into her waiting paws.

The two spent some time sharing whisker kisses and headbonks and snuggling.  Periwinkle stood up and looked at Stinky and said "I'm so glad you dressed up today!  You look sooooo handsome!"  Stinky blushed and asked why she wanted him to dress up.  Periwinkle replied that New Year's Eve was in two days and they wouldn't be together but she thought it would be fun to have a pre-New Year's Eve together.  "We've had so many fun adventures this year, it would be fun to reminisce," said Periwinkle.  Both agreed that 2020 had a lot of BAD things happen.  Periwinkle and Stinky both shed tears and held paws when they thought of their fursibs, Angel Mauricio and Angel Allie who left for the Bridge this year.  Stinky also said they should send purrs to all those who lost someone to that awful Covid and to those who are ill from it.  The Tabbies both bowed their heads and purred loudly for all the humans.

"Remember last New Year's when we went to New York to watch the ball come down?" said Periwinkle.  What a fun time that was.  Too bad it will not be the same this year because of Covid.  They both smiled when they remembered riding up on the ball together.

Stinky reminded Periwinkle of the fun they had chasing the lizards at her house.

Stinky said "Remember when we met up with Teddy and went to Camp Bacon?  That was a delicious adventure!"

Both agreed that visiting the Space Center....

and the Wildlife Refuge were super fun.

Giggling as they remembered, they agreed that Holiday adventures were fun too!  Like Mardi Gras when they went to Cafe du Monde.

and Cinco de Mayo.

Of course, they both said how much they enjoyed visiting Walter and the Black Cats for Halloween.

Periwinkle blushed and said "You know which holiday was my favorite?   Valentine's Day because it's romantic and I got to spend it with YOU"  which, of course, made Stinky blush again.

"That Fancy Feast looks good, why don't we have a snack while we remember other fun things we did this year?" said Periwinkle.

After some time snuggling, whisker kissing and headbonking, it was time for Stinky to head home.  He wished Raz and Periwinkle's Mom a Happy New Year.  Then he hopped into the Teleportation Tunnel and, blowing a kiss to Periwinkle, was on his way home.  Both tabbies started looking forward to their new adventures in 2021!

Happy New Year from Periwinkle and Stinky!!!
